Aug 8-10: Hays Pow-Wow
Location: Fort Belknap Indian Reservation, Hays, MT
Event Detail: Directions: 5 miles south of Hays in the beautiful Mission Canyon. Turn into Hays from Montana Hwy 66. Stay on main road till you hit the pow-wow grounds. Hays, MT is located on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation. The Hays Pow Wow is one of the area’s finest outdoor celebrations and features a whole weekend full of dancing and singing by natives from throughout the United States and Canada. Many dancing contests for all ages (from tiny tots to Golden Age)! Hand drum singing contests also! Hays community has been very busy fund raising for our annual celebration. We are also in the process of renovating and expanding our pow-wow arena. Bring your chairs, tents and a warm blanket!

Event Detail: Directions: Fort Kipp is located 41 miles east of Wolf Point, south of Highway 2, 10 miles west of Brockton and 10 miles west of Culbertson. Fort Kipp Celebration is a Pow Wow which is a celebration of native culture and traditions through dancing, food, crafts, and fellowship with one another. Event Detail: The arbor on U.S. Highway 2 between Ashland and the St. Labre Mission comes alive during the Labor Day weekend. Drummers and dancers from many tribes participate. Booths are set up for food vendors and Native American art and beadwork. Giveaways, gourd dancing and hand games are part of the festivities. An excellent opportunity to learn about Native American culture.

Event Detail: Admission is $4 per CARLOAD. Camping and meals are available to the public on the powwow grounds. Grand Entry is 12 noon on Sat., Sun., and Mon, with a night Grand Entry beginning at 7pm Sat and Sun. There will be a short program Friday afternoon. There are several events during weekend for both children and adults i.e. candy dances, wolf hunts, with a special appearance by Lunging Bear, childrens educational program, flute playing by Mark Thunderwolf and others, story tellers cultural-educational hour, raffles and give-aways,several varieties of Native American foods.HUNDREDS OF DANCERS!! Among the drums attending is Spirit of the Drum, Morningstar Drummers and Singers, Pine Needle Drum, and several other drum groups. As a non-profit,charitable organization, all the proceeds from this powwow help to feed people during the holidays, pay fuel bills for the needy, as well as donations to women's shelters, Make-A-Wish foundation, and many, many other manners of helping people.
