Nov 1-3: Fall Gathering at Manataka
Location: Gulpha Gorge Campgrounds, Hwy 70B, Between Hwy 70 East and Hwy 7 North, Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas 71901
Event Detail: For thousands of years the elders of many nations from the four corners of Turtle Island gathered at the sacred Place of Peace, Manataka, and sat in great councils. American Indian Religious Ceremonies - Flag, Pipe, Fire, Naming rites performed by Zintkala Oyate and Elders of the Manataka American Indian Council. Zintkala Oyate or Peter V. Catches, Catches-the-Enemy, is a 38th generation Lakota holy man who has led the Spotted Eagle Sun Dance at Pine Ridge Reservation for 25 years. Grand Entry of Elders and Honored Guests led by the American Indian Honor Guard of Oklahoma. Entertainment by John Two Hawks and Company. 12 noon Pot Luck Picnic followed by ceremonies in the Sacred Circle. Other Events: Trade Blanket, Mini-Seminars, Drumming and Singing. Tipi Storytelling. Free admission.

Event Details: Gathering of tribes and public for cultural fellowship. American Indians come from around the country to compete for cash prizes in dance and drum competition. See a living Indian village and witness native people and primitive skills educators as they demonstrate fire making, basket weaving, hide tanning, pottery, flint napping and blow gun demos.
