Apr 24-25: 14th Annual Redbud Trail Rendezvous
Location: 37 E 375 N (just off N. US 31), Rochester, Indiana 46975 Event Detail: Sat & Sun - open 10 a.m to 5 p.m.; Admission: Adults - $3, Ages 6-12 - $1, Bus students - $1, Ages 5 and under - free. Relive the history of the Midwestern Frontier and pioneer life before 1840! View the interior of tepees and wigwams and a log cabin trading post. Walk around the 1832 Chippeway village and experience stage shows, strolling musicians with bagpipes, dulcimers, and guitars, storytelling as well as dancing. Taste foods cooked over wood fires and watch black powder and tomahawk contests. See demonstrations of early American skills and wares ranging from pewter-molding, shoe making from paper patterns, and weaving to a variety of cooking styles performed by vendors in period costumes. This is a teaching rendezvous with opportunities to earn admission by volunteering to work or be in a program. Named for the Redbud trees that bloom in this area in the Spring.
