JANUARY 2005 MOUNTAIN MAN RENDEZVOUS

January 7-9, 2005: Devil’s Ditch Renegades Freezeout Rendezvous
Location: ...at the DDR site, 6 miles North of Haven, KS and 3 miles East (look for the signs).
Event Detail: Firewood, water, and a heated cabin on site for evening games and libations.Primitive dress appreciated but not required (dress warmly).
Primitive and modern campsites.Range open for practice or friendly competition.
No camp fee.Come on out and help us celebrate the New Year with the first rendezvous of 2005.

January 12-22, 2005: Alafia River Rendezvous
Location: Homeland, FL
Event Detail: A pre-1840 living history encampment presented by The Florida Frontiersmen. Participants/re-enactors set up and live in camps portraying and demonstrating life skills of various Early American cultures, i.e. British, Irish, Scottish, Spanish and Native American. At last years gathering, over 1000 lodges were set up housing well over 1600 people. Early setup starts Jan. 12 - Break down Jan. 23. See website for details.

Revolutionary Copper Kettle
Patterned after an original in the Museum of the Fur Trade, this unique copper kettle has a ring on the lid for lifting and iron socket handle so the lid can be used as a skillet, and an iron bail for hanging or handling the entire pot. Handmade of copper with a heavy tin lining. These kettles date from approximately 1760 on.
