Meet the Author and Guide at the Arlee Powwow, July 4, 2004 2 to 4 p.m. at the Salish Kootenai College Bookstore booth by the dance arbor.
Black Plume's Cultural Studies is a non-profit organization operating in the U.S. and Canada to assist in the empowerment of indigenous peoples. "Black Plume's Weasel People" is a product of this non-profit organization. Reggie Black Plume, a Kainai elder (Blood Tribe) of Alberta Canada and Spirit Dancer Oakley of the Tsalagi Nation reside in Montana on the Flathead Reservation. Ms. Oakley provides a refreshing and intimate look into the ancient ways of the ancient Blackfeet with the guidance of her life partner, Reggie Black Plume. Mr. Black Plume was raised by the major chief of the bloods, Chief Shot Both Sides and his medicine woman wife, Long Time Pipe Woman, in the 30's and 40's the ancient way. All native peoples and other parties interested in the true ancient practices which have a commonality will treasure this book and keep it for a reference guide.

Event Detail: The staff and host club: Moses Van Campen and other area clubs Welcome you to this pre-1840 Encampment. We have a full slate of primitive shooting, knife and hawk throwing, archery and a new event this year called " The Trapper Challenge". There also will be a canoe camp for those arriving by water. The site will be near Letchworth State Park and The Letchworth Museum. One mile north of Fort Hill and 15 miles from the Moses Van Campen and Phillip Church homesteads. Event Detail: This is a Colonial type event. This year will feature a Native American ceremony (renewal of wedding vows), 42nd Regimental Highlanders, Mohawk Valley Militia, French Marines, People of the North (Native/Voyageurs), and many sutlers. Ice on the grounds, pre-registration will get you in on powder reimbursement. Wood, water, straw provided. No fee. Potluck on Sat pm. FIREWORKS Saturday at dark !!!!!!!!!!!! Hope to see you there!

Jul 22-25: 28th Annual Land of the Seneca Rendezvous and Rifle Frolic
Location: LOS Club campground, Carley Road, near Watkins Glen, NY 14805
Event Detail: Event is held at our club campground 5 miles east of Watkins Glen, NY. Both pre-1840 primitive, and 1880s to modern, camp areas. Pre - 1840 period dress and equipment required for primitive camp. Period dress strongly encouraged for 1880s to modern campers. We have woods, meadows, a pond, hooters, water, a cook shack, demonstrations, living history games, rifle and smoothbore shoots, archery shoots, ice service, knife and hawk contests, woodswalk shoots, cannon shoots, raffles, drawings, and all the free, cut, firewood you can use. We have a separate woods/meadow camping area for modern campers and tin tipis (no hook-ups). And we always have a shining time! We hope you can join us.
