October 2003 MOUNTAIN MAN RENDEZVOUS
Oct 2-5: Big Island Rendezvous and Festival, Inc.
Location: Bancroft Bay City Park, Hammer Rd on west end, Albert Lea, MN 56007
Event Detail: Oct 2-3: Education Days & Oct 4-5: Public Days. Minnesota's Largest Furtrade and Early America reenactment. Over 1,000 costumed participants. Voyageur camps, The Highland Regiment, Pioneer Settlement, Traders' Row, Scottish Camp, NEW THIS YEAR: New Ulm Battery and invitation only Civil War Area. Stage entertainment including the "Cajun Strangers" from Minneapolis plus gigging or Cloggers a colonial pub, George Washington portrayed by Steve Black & 18th Century Entertainments Eric Scites. Lots of workshops & demonstrations including blacksmithing, candlemaking, pottery, fibre arts, pioneer settlement with ox cart or wagon & animals, voyageur camps including birch bark canoes. Foods including buffalo, pork, beef, homemade rootbeer. Over 4,000 children attend education days & between 5,000 & 10,000 public on the weekend. For application to attend call the toll free 800 number. All spaces are assigned so early set up is not required unless you wish to arrive early. Firewood, showers, water, workshops & entertainment all included in camping fee. Early registration gets discount price on camping. Limited number of spaces so inquire ASAP. Cannon drills and blackpowder shooting competition as well as tomahawk & knife throwing. Beautiful city park with oak trees & open vista overlooking the lake. One of the Midwest's premiere events. Dance Saturday night for all participants.

Oct 4-5: 4th Annual Crowley's Ridge Black Powder Rendezvous
Location: 1.4 miles south of Bloomfield, MO on Hwy 25, Bloomfield, MO 63825
Event Detail: No modern campsites. Pre 1840 only. Public is free. Black powder shoot; knife, hawk, fire start & primitive bow shoot contests with prizes to be awarded.

Oct 18-19: Gathering of the Waters
Location: Bank of the Mississippi, Historic Grafton, IL
Event Detail: The event will be held in historic Grafton, IL and include the canoe trip from Kampsville to Grafton, Black Powder Shoot with Knife and Hawk Throw, Traditional Bow Shoot, Marquette and Joliet Landing Reenactment, Primitive Camp, Crafts and Food Vendors, & Period Traders.

Oct 18-19: Glovers Station Rendezvous
Location: American Legion Park, Greensburg, KY 42743
Event Detail: Seeking traders and sutlers, Native American, Civil War, Primitive and Pioneer Re-enactors. Beautiful wooded setting along the Green River. Restrooms with showers and firewood provided. Welcoming drums, dancers, flute players and storytellers.

Oct 24-26: GCFG Annual Fall Rendezvous
Location: Greene County Fish and Game, Union Rd., Xenia, OH 45385
Event Detail: Pre-1840 camp with blackpowder woodswalk. NMLRA rules apply. Camp feed on Saturday with main course provided, just bring a covered dish. Kids games and costume "Trick or Treat" Saturday evening. Traders welcome at no extra charge.

Oct 24-26: Hatchie Run 14th Annual Rendezvous
Location: Hatchie Run Longrifles Club Grounds, Hwy 15, Faulkner, MI
Event Detail: We are a living history and muzzleloader shooting club that represents early Colonial to 1840 time period. We promote historically accurate clothing weapons skills and crafts of the period. We are a family oriented club. This event will be open to the public and the schools on Fri-Oct 24 & Sat-Oct 25, 9a-2p. There will be a situation woods walk hawk knife throwing, fire starting, Seneca Run. All competitors must be period-correct. Open sights & round balls only. There will be a camp gun giveaway (54 cal. smoothbore pistol).
