"Spanish Brown" was the most popular color and the term applied to the variety of terra cotta shades derived from mixing iron oxide, linseed oil and other elements. Well, Crazy Crow now presents a terrific Spanish Brown, 100% cotton, 60" wide canvas which we've had made exclusively for 1700s-early 1800s re-enactors. It's unbelievably waterproof and mildew retardant, plus the 10 oz. weight readily lends itself to hand or machine stitching. Unlike linseed oil-based materials, our Spanish Brown cloth is not sticky and will give you years of wear without degrading like the homemade versions. As the photo examples demonstrate, you can use it for Diamond Shelters, tents, ground cloths, bedroll tarps, haversacks, rain slickers or ponchos, and dozens of other period-correct items to provide serious moisture protection.
