Worn as medicine hats in the 1830s, turbans have since become a staple in Cherokee dress and regalia. The turban of today symbolizes the Cherokee trait of adapting while remaining the same. Our turbans are Cherokee-made and show all the talent and honor associated with this headgear... so much so in fact that five Cherokee chiefs wear turbans from this maker. Each turban is made from brocade or other fine mid-weight upholstery fabrics enabling it to hold its shape. They are made atop baseball caps to provide a cool breathable wear. This also allows the turban to fit most head sizes. The fabrics used are predominantly red which is the most popular color among Cherokee turbans by far. You can adorn these turbans with rooster feathers, crystals, herbs, etc. to give your turban its own individual quality and meaning. We are offering three basic fabric styles: Sequoyah striped patterns, Woodland paisleys and Native American geometrics.
