2019 Dance of the Spring Moon Powwow
Join us for our 14th Annual Dance of the Spring Moon Powwow on May 3-5, 2019 at the Lumbee Tribe Cultural Center in Maxton, North Carolina. The Dance of the Spring Moon Powwow will draw members of about 30 tribes from across the nation to the Lumbee Tribe Cultural Center near Pembroke. The event, which includs grand entries at the beginning of each dance session, showcases the various tribes and dance styles in attendance. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the Dance of the Spring Moon Powwow: dancing and drumming competitions, food and craft vendors, stickball games, and a living history exhibit complete with a longhouse and wigwam.
Dance of the Spring Moon Powwow
The annual Dance of the Spring Moon Powwow, held each May, celebrates Lumbee culture and identity, providing a place and time that people can come together in spirit, dancing, drumming and singing in harmony. The Powwow begins Friday with Grand Entry at 7:00 pm. Grand Entries on Saturday are at Noon and 7:00 pm. The final dance session of the weekend will begin on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
Daily admission is $8 for adults; $6 for people ages 6 to 12; $5 for people 55 and older; and $5 for members of the military with ID. Children who are 5 years old and younger get in free. A pass for the entire weekend can be purchased for $18 and Sunday-only passes cost $5.
