2018 Honoring Native Heritage Pow Wow

All are welcome at the Honoring Native Heritage Pow Wow on July 21-22, 2018 at Lakeshore Museum Center in Michigan’s Heritage Park in Whitehall, Michigan. The Honoring Native Heritage Pow Wow, hosted by Lakeshore Museum Center, is a Pow Wow with Native dancers, drummers, and singers performing throughout the weekend. A Grand Entry will be held at Noon both days and at 6:30 pm on Saturday. Over a dozen trade booths will offer such items for sale as jewelry, handmade crafts, and bead work. Traditional Native food will be available for purchase including favorites like fry bread and soups. Canceled for 2019.

Powwow visitors will see traditional dancers, fancy shawl dancers, jingle dress dancers, and grass dancers. In addition, visitors can participate in some of the dances. Native drummers and singers will perform throughout the weekend.

Saturday 10:00 am – 8:00 pm
Sunday 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Admission Fees:
No admission for Dancers, Drummers, and Vendors.
Park admission for visitors is $10 adults, $8 seniors, $5 children

Powwow Schedule:
Saturday: Grand Entries are at Noon and 6:30 p.m.
Sunday: Grand Entry at Noon

About Heritage Park
Michigan’s Heritage Park at Hilt’s Landing is a perfect family activity, promising an outdoor adventure for all ages. Your tour will take you through 10,000 years of Michigan History in a natural woodland setting near Whitehall in northern Muskegon County. “Make and Take” vintage crafts are part of the experience! Experience daily life in a Native American Wigwam Village (1650), including a Pow Wow. Interact with a fur trader (1760) stocking his shelves in the Fur Trade Post and participate in the trade. In the Settlers Cabin (1830), learn about the life of early settlers and help with daily chores. Visit with Civil War Soldiers (1861 to 1865) in their winter camp and hear about the dangers in camp. Stretch out on a bunk in the Lumber Shanty (1880) and learn what “small game in the bunk” means.
