2019 MCNAA Spring Planting Moon Pow Wow
All are invited to the annual MCNAA Spring Planting Moon Pow Wow on May 25-26, 2019 at Marshfield Fairgrounds in Marshfield, Massachusetts. Come celebrate the Spring Planting Moon at our annual pow-wow. Through song, dance and storytelling, we’ll thank Mother Earth for the three main staples that we plant annually around this time for the sustenance of our families: beans, corn and squash. Within most Native traditions, they are known as The Three Sisters.
MCNAA Spring Planting Moon Pow Wow
Sit back and enjoy the various dance-style demonstrations. They will include the Lady’s Fancy Shawl Dance, the Jingle Dress Dance, the Grass Dance, Crow Hope, Lady’s traditional Dance, and Men’s Traditional Dance. Then join in some of the Inter-tribal Dancing. The public is always welcomed and encouraged to share in the Inter-tribal dancing The emcee will announce it.
The MCNAA Spring Planting Moon Pow Wow is a family friendly event, so bring everyone. Bring a lawn chair or blanket for seating! This event is sponsored by the Massachusetts Center for Native American Awareness, Inc. The program is supported in part by a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Councils’ Festivals Program.

- Native Foods (as well as some American fare) for sale that include: Native tacos, three sisters rice, bison soup, corn chowder, salmon cakes, fried dough, chili, hot dogs, strawberry shortcake, strawberry moon tea, soda, water, and coffee.

About the Mass Center for Native American Awareness
Mass Center for Native American Awareness holds a number of pow-wows each year,like the MCNAA Spring Planting Moon Pow Wow, in different cities/towns in Massachusetts. The pow-wows serves as an opportunity for “cultural expression” for Native Americans who are dancers, artisans, storytellers and craftmakers. They all come together to exhibit their skills, and share their culture. The pow-wows are also an opportunity to bring awareness to the public about Native American traditions and culture and for the public to participate in our rich cultural heritage.
