2019 NHBP Pow Wow – Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi
All are invited to the annual NHBP Pow Wow on June 22-23, 2019 at the Pine Creek Indian Reservation in Fulton, Michigan. The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP) extends an invitation to all in the local community, states near and far, as well as our Canadian neighbors to join us in our annual NHBP Pow Wow. The relationships we have built within the community are very valuable and it is important to us to share our culture with our neighbors through such events as our NHBP Pow Wow.
NHBP Pow Wow – Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi
This could be the perfect opportunity to attend your first Pow Wow, or we’d like to welcome you back. Admission is free with activities such as drumming, dancing, singing and other cultural events. Vendors will be selling Native crafts and traditional foods on-site. There will be a parade on Saturday morning. The NHBP Pow Wow is a family friendly event and all ages are welcome.
Don’t worry if you don’t know Pow Wow etiquette. We’ll teach you what you need to know when you arrive at the NHBP Pow Wow. Pick up a brochure at the information booth or download one here to learn about the different dance styles and pow wow ettiquette.

Featuring World-Reknowned Native Dancer Derrick Suwaima Davis
Derrick Suwaima Davis (Hopi/Choctaw) is the only seven time World Champion Hoop Dancer. As a full time performing artist, he has traveled the world sharing his interpretation of hoop dance. His career includes collaborations with the Heard Museum, the Alaska Native Heritage Center, Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, and the American Indian Dance Theatre. Suwaima is the founder and Artistic Director of the Living Traditions Dance Troupe which seeks to entertain and share the culture of Southwestern Native People.

Pow Wow Camping
Rustic camping (limited electrical service, temporary facilities) is allowed at Pine Creek Reservation during special events, such as the NHBP Pow Wow, at the discretion of the Tribal committee or government department hosting the event in question. At such events, camping will be permitted at designated areas and sites only. All persons intending to camp at the Pine Creek Reservation are required to register and acquire a camping permit (no cost) and must adhere to the general rules stated below.[su_accordion][su_spoiler title=”Camping Details”]
Event ‘Camping Permit Application’ and ‘Permit to Camp’ (attached documents) must be completed by a ‘Permit Holder’ and include all individuals who will reside at the campsite; application and permit forms may be downloaded from the event website, or acquired at the NHBP Tribal Police Department, NHBP Housing Department, or camp manager/ranger during the event.
Individual campsites are marked and will accommodate two (2) large tents, fire ring, and picnic table (limited availability); Recreational Vehicle (RV) and trailer campers may park at larger designated sites only, at the discretion of the camp manager/ranger. Automobiles may access the campsites to deliver equipment and goods only – camper parking (overnight and event) will be available in the immediate vicinity of the camping area.
Campfires are allowed at individual sites, so long as the fire is maintained inside the ‘fire ring’ provided at the site and continually monitored. Note: The camp manager/ranger may prohibit campfires if seasonal-weather or other local conditions are not favorable to recreational fires, etc.
