Celebrate Old Fort Niagara Patriots Day Weekend on April 18-19, 2020 at Old Fort Niagara in Youngstown, New York. Patriots Day weekend commemorates the opening of the American Revolution on April 19, 1775. Join Crown and Rebel forces for two days of living history programming, battle demonstrations, storytelling and ceremonies honoring veterans. Patriots Day Weekend will also honor all U.S. military service people, who will be admitted free with proper ID.

Old Fort Niagara Celebrates Patriots Day Weekend

The weekend’s family-friendly, educational and interactive activities will enlighten visitors about the Battles of Lexington and Concord that began April 19, 1775, and started the American Revolution. The programs are suitable for all ages and everything is included with regular admission to the fort.

There is no extra charge for Old Fort Niagara Patriots Day Weekend, but general admission tickets are required. Members of the Old Fort Niagara Association are free.

Admission: Adults $13, Children 6-12 $9, under 6 free
Discounts: $15 Adults; $10 Children for Senior Citizens, Military & Vets w/ID, AAA/CAA w/ID, NYS Parks Discovery Pass coupon, Guests of Old Fort Niagara Association Members

About Patriots Day
Patriots Day is a special Massachusetts State holiday commemorating the opening battle of the American Revolutionary War, April 19, 1775. The holiday (Officially observed on the closest Monday, and the entire weekend, is celebrated with parades, reenactments and commemorative ceremonies.

Daily Schedule:
Activities take place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.
10:00 a.m. Assembly
10:30 a.m. Musket Demonstration
11:00 a.m. Recruiting Demonstration. Here’s your chance to join the army and fight for Crown or Congress. Soldiers of all ages are welcome.
Noon Storytelling
12:30 p.m. Musket Demonstration
1:00 p.m. Uniforms and Clothing of the American Revolution
1:30 p.m. Musket Demonstration
2:00 p.m. Saturday- Veterans’ Honor Ceremony; Sunday- Patriots Day Honors. Followed by a musket salute.
2:30 p.m. (immediately following honor ceremony) Tactical Demonstration/Skirmish.
3:30 p.m. Musket Demonstration

About Old Fort Niagara
Old Fort Niagara has dominated the entrance to the Niagara River since 1726. In American hands since 1796, Fort Niagara was recaptured by the British in 1813, and then ceded to the US a second time in 1815 at the end of the War of 1812. Today, visitors can discover an amazing collection of military architecture, including the oldest building in the Great Lakes region: the “French Castle.” The fort is a New York State and National Historic Landmark and hosts several reenactments each year.[su_accordion][su_spoiler title=”Read More”] Old Fort Niagara offers a chance to step back in time to an era when great empires struggled for control of North America. Inside the Fort, you’ll tour original buildings where Native American, French, British and American soldiers lived and worked from the 18th to the 20th centuries. During the summer months you’ll witness musket and artillery firing demonstrations, go on a guided tour, see artisans at work and learn about life on the Niagara Frontier during the 18th and early 19th centuries.
