This April, Painted Faces In The Valley Spring Pow Wow will again be presented by the Raritan Valley Community College along with RavensWing Productions. Two events will be hosted that celebrate Native American culture and support RVCC’s mission to educate the college and general community about the life and contributions of Native American people.

Proceeds from the pow wow will go to support the creation of a Native American scholarship program and further develop the Native American studies program at RVCC.

Raritan Valley Community College is pleased to welcome teachers and students to join us for our Annual School Day at Painted Faces In The Valley Spring Pow Wow on Friday. This program is designed to provide area students grades K through 12, along with educators and parents the opportunity to have a one-on-one, interactive cultural experience. Native American artists, dancers, craftspeople will be on hand doing workshops in their area of expertise, ranging from bow making to quillwork giving students a hands-on learning experience and an opportunity to get a first hand look at how contemporary indigenous people of the Americas continue to carry on their lifestyles and traditions.

Then on Saturday, we continue our celebration of Native American culture with a full-day pow wow featuring Native dancers from all across the U.S. and Canada….with Native drums and singers, performers, and Native vendors providing food and refreshments as well as Native jewelry, artwork, clothing, leather work and much, much more!
