During your visit with us at Pala Powwown, we encourage you to enjoy yourself. This is a day to remember as you are in the company of southern California’s Native America tribes, the Luiseño, Diegueño, and Cupeño people. These tribes are just a few of many that occupy the lands of the United States of America.
A powwow is a tradition and custom that has been practiced throughout Native American history. It brings Native American people together from all over the country to join together and share laughter, good company and make new and long-lasting friendships, as well as meet up with old friends. You will find that there is plenty to see. There will be dance competitions in many different dance categories. At these contests each dancer will dress in complete traditional regalia representing the style of dance and their tribe. During the dance competition, dancers will pull out their best moves to keep the judges’ attention, all while keeping time with the drum.
Along with the dancing and singing at Pala Powwow there are many food booths for you to get something to eat. They offer many different styles of food you are sure to enjoy. There are also many arts and crafts booths offering authentic Native American jewelry, beadwork, art, and souvenirs. Many of our vendors also offer t-shirts designed by Native American artists.
