2019 Redbud Trail Rendezvous and Civil War Encampment
Experience pre-1865 history at the Annual Redbud Trail Rendezvous and Civil War Encampment April 27-28, 2019 at the Fulton County Museum in Rochester, Indiana with live music, dance, pre-1840s fur trade era reenactors, Civil War reenactors, food cooked over wood fires, and more. Hours and activities vary daily. Come and enjoy the Redbud Trail Rendezvous at the site of the Trail of Courage when the redbuds are blooming. See the Fulton County Museum, Round Barn Museum, and their Living History Village.
The Redbud Trail Rendezvous will be setup in the Living History Village, just south of the Round Barn. WE ARE INCLUDING CIVIL WAR – SO TIME PERIOD WILL BE PRE-1865. The purpose of the Redbud Trail Rendezvous and Civil War Encampment is to educate the public about frontier history, preserve history and heritage of pre-1865 era, and provide a fun and relaxing time for participants! Teaching is one of the purposes for the Redbud Trail Rendezvous.
Hours: Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; Sunday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Admission: $3 Ages 12 & up
Redbud trees form a lovely background for the Redbud Trail Rendezvous at the Fulton County Museum’s Living History Village area. Every spring the Redbud Trail Rendezvous is one of the first outdoor events of the season. This event is brimming with frontier history and often brings surprises for the participants and public. Over a hundred historic reenactors set up camps and live outdoors for the event, demonstrating primitive skills of the era as well as traditional crafts, frontier life ways, and pioneer skills such as cooking over wood fires and tomahawk throwing. The event is educational and fun, showing authentic history as re-enacted by real people.
Historic camps portray periods from the American Revolutionary War to the American Civil War. People dressed in authentic pre-1865 outfits demonstrate many traditional crafts. Crafts include flint knapping, beadwork, spinning and weaving, leather, flintknapping, watercolor painting, wood carving, blacksmith, scrimshaw, fingerweaving, and much more.
Event Amenities: straw, free firewood, low price for camping & trading, free showers beside museum, free admission to the museum and Living History Village at north end of grounds. So come on out and have some fun on the banks of the Tippecanoe River.
