2019 Southern Ute Tribal Fair and Powwow
Experience the 99th Annual Southern Ute Tribal Fair and Powwow on September 13-15, 2019 at the Sky Ute Fairgrounds in Ignacio, Colorado. The weekend-long Powwow kicks off Friday night and goes through Sunday with most of the events taking place at the fairgrounds. A big draw to the Southern Ute Tribal Fair and Powwow is the dance and drum contests with thousands of dollars in prize money. Visitors can enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of the powwow as the Powwow participants sing, drum and dance, with many wearing traditional tribal regalia.

The Southern Ute Tribal Fair and Powwow weekend is packed with exhibits and events, contests and concerts, parades and performances, but don’t miss the highlights: the Powwow’s Grand Entry ceremonies and Gourd Dances held Friday night, twice on Saturday and again on Sunday.
Other Fun Tribal Fair Events
The tribal fair also includes a huge variety of events such as children’s races, grease pole, frybread, jalapeno eating, tug-a-war, best painted horse, and chicken pull.
Tribal Fair Parade
The Southern Ute Tribal Fair Parade starts at 10 a.m. Saturday. Although some of the contests are open only to Native American contestants, spectators are welcome to watch and enjoy all of the activities.
Tribal Fair Exhibits
Check out the “live” livestock exhibits and the Native American arts and crafts exhibits that feature drawings, paintings, photography, jewelry and traditional beadwork.
