2019 Washington University in St Louis Pow Wow
The 29th Annual Washington University in St Louis Pow Wow on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the Buder Center in St Louis, Missouri is an inter-tribal gathering of American Indians to dance, sing, become friends, share meals and traditions. The Washington University in St Louis Pow Wow is a family friendly event. Come enjoy Native Arts, Crafts, Dance Contests and Food at this free to the public event.
Washington University in St Louis Pow Wow
Every year Washington University’s Buder Center for American Indian Studies hosts a pow wow that draws tribes from across the country. Buder Center Director Molly Tovar said the event also is an group Ottertrail performs Saturday at the Buder Center’s annual opportunity for local American Indians to get to know each other.
The Annual Washington University in St Louis Pow Wow is sponsored by the Buder Center; the Women’s Society of Washington University; the Missouri Humanities Council; and the Brown School Student Coordinating Council. The St. Louis region is home to about 3,000 American Indians from many different tribes, and The Buder Center is the hub and central place for Native people to gather. In the state of Missouri, there aren’t any designated tribes, but there’s approximately about 76,000 — 80,000 American Indians in the state overall, many being relocated here by the Relocation Act.
