These French Ball Patch Knife Blades are Early American pattern blades that not only make great patch knives but also great neck knives too! Made of 5/32” 1075 high carbon steel and hardened to Rockwell 57-58, they’re easy to sharpen and hold an edge well. Tangs are pre-drilled for 1/8” pins for easy attachment of handle scales in wood, stag, bone or horn.

I picked this blade to make a neck knife and it seems sturdy and should be excellent for my purpose. As another reviewer noted, the holes in the tang are smaller than advertised, so be aware. I tried drilling out the holes but the tang was pretty hard, so I just shaved down my pins to fit.

I love the size of this blade and it takes an edge very well. However, the description says the tang is drilled for 1/8” pins. These are nowhere near 1/8”. I could barely get a 5/64” bit into them. If it weren’t for this issue, I’d have given this 4-5 stars.
