The event commemorates the signing of the Treaty of 1855 between the United States Government and the Indians of Middle Oregon. That Treaty established the Warm Springs Indian Reservation. \n\nPi-Ume-Sha Treaty Days Pow Wow Celebration\nThe Pi-Ume-Sha Treaty Days Pow Wow Grand Entries are 7:00 p.m. on Friday\, 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Saturday\, and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Pi-Ume-Sha Treaty Days also includes an Endurance Horse Race Saturday Morning at 8:00 a.m.\, Traditionsl Parade at 11:00 a.m.\, the Pi-Ume-Sha Rodeo at 1:00 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday\, and more! \nNative Americans and others from all over the Northwest will gather again in June for the Pi-Ume-Sha Treaty Days Pow Wow celebration near the community center in Warm Springs. A photographer’s dream\, this free event features 300-500 Indian dancers competing in elaborately detailed\, handmade regalia. The Pi-Ume-Sha Treaty Days Pow Wow kicks off Friday evening with the grand entry at 7:00 p.m.\, featuring a parade of all the dancers in a breathtaking profusion of brilliant color\, feather and bead regalia\, and pounding drum beats. All Pi-Ume-Sha dance competitions take place on the fields near the Warm Springs Community Center. \nParade: On Saturday\, don’t miss the Traditional Dress Parade with decorated floats and horses and riders in full tribal regalia. The parade can take up to 1-1/2 hours\, due to the large number of entries. The parade is also staged by the community center. Be sure to bring water and something to shade yourself. \nPi-Ume-Sha Rodeo: There will be plenty of action at the Pi-Ume-Sha Rodeo\, which starts at 1 p.m.\, each day at the Warm Springs Rodeo Grounds on the way to Kah-Nee-Ta Resort. Join the Native American community at the Abenaki Heritage Weekend on Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm. Members of the Elnu Abenaki Tribe\, the Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk and Koasek Traditional Band of the Koas Abenaki Nation\, Missisquoi Abenaki Tribe\, and the Vermont Abenaki Artists Association work with Museum staff to plan and present the event. \n\nAbenaki Heritage Weekend\nThe Native people at this event are experts in the living indigenous arts and traditions which they come together to share with one another and with visitors. They have inherited\, researched\, reconstructed\, or apprenticed to learn the techniques with which they create outstanding bead work\, quill work\, basketry\, pottery\, woodworking and other items for personal use or for sale. Tribal members will also share songs\, drumming\, dancing\, games\, food preparation\, and other life skills. Each year the Friends of Monmouth Battlefield co-sponsors\, with the New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry\, sponsor the annual reenactment of the battle in commemoration of the anniversary of the battle fought on June 28\, 1778. Hundreds of troops encamp at the park and recreate scenarios of the battle over the weekend. There are also numerous presentations and lectures\, tours of the camps\, and sutler area open to the public. The Friends of Monmouth Battlefield will be requesting an $10 per vehicle donation to defray the costs of the weekend. A food vendor will be on site and handicapped parking is available. \n\nBattle of Monmouth Reenactment\nBring your family to the Battlefield Saturday or Sunday\, and travel back in time to the 1770s. Two armies will be preparing to do battle. Continental Army soldiers retrained at Valley Forge are itching to show off their new skills\, while a British-German-Loyalist Army hopes to crush the rebels and restore good government. Come early for a full day of living history. The army encampments will welcome visitors beginning at 9 A.M. Watch soldiers clean their muskets while their women prepare what may be their men’s last meal. Some officers may be drilling their men while others plan for the battle and yet others play cards. If someone is accused of cheating\, there may be a duel. DESCRIPTION:2019 Old Fort Harrod Settlement and Raid\n\nRate This Event\n \n                                    \n                                        \n                                        \n                                        \n                                        \n                                    \nExperience Kentucky Frontier history at the 10th Annual Old Fort Harrod Settlement and Raid Reenactment on June 22-23\, 2019 at Old Fort Harrod State Park in Harrodsburg\, Kentucky. Daily hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with the Raids reenactments at 2:00 pm daily. The Old Fort Harrod Settlement and Raid Reenactment is sponsored by the Friends of Fort Harrod and is the Park’s signature event each year and promises to be bigger and better than ever before! \n\nOld Fort Harrod Settlement and Raid\nMany reenactors and volunteers work hard to re-create the actual look and feel of a real Shawnee attack upon Fort Harrod which might have occurred in March 1777. It began a year long seige on the Fort during which many settlers would die violent deaths. The Shawnee killed or stole all of the settlers livestock and burn their crops. The year of 1777 became known as the “Year of Despair” and one can only imagine the terror and hardships the settlers in the Fort had to endure. But\, the Fort held\, attack after attack. Had it not\, there would have been no Harrods Town\, no Harrodsburg and no State of Kentucky. \nFort Harrod was never overrun. At one point they nearly ran out of gun powder which gave rise to the famous “Powder Run” by George Rogers Clark\, James Harrod and others to obtain the much needed powder. They were successful and the Fort was saved! \nIn addition to the Raids reenactment\, the Old Fort Harrod Settlement and Raid Reenactment living history\, colonial music\, cannon fire and Native attacks on the fort. Colonial entertainers will perform all weekend. After the portrayal of this historic battle and what could have been here at Harrod’s Fort the public will be invited to the Native village to watch the adoption ceremonies for the women and children as they could have been carried out if Harrod had fallen. Recently discovered ancient cliff dwellings\, attributed to Eastern Shoshone builders\, in the Wind River Mountains are evidence of just how long the Shoshone Tribe has dwelled and hunted in these lands. The Margaretta Days Festival and Crafts Fair celebrates the American Revolution Downeast\, specifically the Battle of the Margaretta\, the first Naval Battle of the American Revolution\, the beginning of the US Merchant Marines\, and the Battle of the Rim. This annual festival in Machias\, Maine was named one of Yankee Magazine’s 2010 Top 20 Events which encourages everyone to enjoy travelling back in time to life in 1775. It’s a lot of fun with a bit of history thrown in. History comes alive with an encampment of soldier re-enactors and period demonstrations. \n\nCentury Market Fair at Locust Grove\nReenactors of all levels are welcome to participate in sharing the history of the first Naval battle of the American Revolutionary War in 1775 when the local men seized the HMS Margaretta.\nMilitary\, militia and civilian reenactors\, all authentically dressed for the period\, include farmers\, trappers\, hunters\, sailors\, traders\, lumbermen\, soldiers\, minister\, and four of Maine’s Indian tribes. \nAt the Margaretta Days Festival and Crafts Fair you might watch a skirmish between the redcoats and patriots. You might visit the trappers\, timber framers\, blacksmith\, woodworkers\, weavers\, spinner. You could experience what it’s like to throw a tomahawk or toss an antler. Then watch the children’s activities: cornhusk dollmaking\, hoop-rolling\, and more. Be sure to taste the period food: moose or venison stew\, meat pies\, beans\, cornbread\, and fruit pies to name a few. Enjoy live period music; listen to the stories of our heroes: Jeremiah O’Brien\, Hannah Weston\, Rev. Lyons\, Passamaquoddy Chief Jean Baptiste Neptune. It will be a day the whole family will enjoy and remember for years to come. \nPublic Welcome – Free Admission\nThe second Saturday of every June the Margaretta Days Festival and Crafts Fair begins with a breakfast at our local American Legion\, followed by the 10:00 parade to the festival. Handicapped accessible\, fun for the whole family and admission to the Festival is free! \nAmerican Legion Post 9 Hosts Margaretta Days Breakfast\nAs in all prior years\, the Ephraim Johnson American Legion Post 9 is hosting a Margaretta Days breakfast\, kicking off the historic occasion in the county seat. Post 9\, one of the town’s largest and most loyal community contributors\, donates thousands every year to the Machias area\, including its food pantries\, scholarships and donations to needy children and families. The breakfast at the post will run from 7-9 a.m. on Saturday\, featuring blueberry pancakes\, bacon\, eggs\, sausage and muffins. Drop by and get Margaretta Days Festival and Crafts Fair off to a great start! \n \nSaturday Parade\nAfter the pancake breakfast\, a parade of pomp and circumstance begins as people gather and proceed to a hill in the distance. Walking together are the sons and daughters of the American Revolution\, and in these roles represent those that fought and died for a young country. Native American tribal leaders\, state and local dignitaries\, costumed reenactors of patriots\, citizens and children aboard replicas of ships join the ranks. It is a procession accompanied by flags\, musket shot\, drums and fife that fill the air with patriotism as it moves up College Hill toward the reenactor encampments\, games\, activities\, and crafters on the Green Commons at the University of Maine Machias Campus \nShowing Your Goods at the Crafts Fair \nAll booths are on a first come\, first served basis and are 12’ by 12.’ You provide your own tent\, tables\, chairs\, etc. There is no electricity or water available. There will be port-a-potties and in case of rain we can move into a University building.. Set-up is 8 am and take-down 3:00 pm. Celebrate Native American culture as you enjoy Native dancing and drumming\, crafts\, food\, art\, flute music and story telling. Help American Legion Post 290 in its support of veterans and their families. \nThe American Legions Veterans Pow Wow is conducted to help raise money to get homeless veterans off the streets\, into housing\, and to find employment for them. All profits from this pow-wow are used for that purpose. There is no gate fee\, admission is free. Donations are always welcome. On Saturday a veteran’s motorcycle ride will take place. \nRolling Thunder\, a former military motorcycle club will take part in this. Resource groups for veterans will be present to serve\, answer questions\, and assist veterans. The two available food booths serve truly tasty food. American Indian vendors will have craft booths set up for you to visit\, and they will answer questions concerning their culture. Though the White Earth Pow Wow is a celebration of the White Earth Reservation’s people and heritage\, everyone is invited. It’s an open event — not just for the native people\, but for everyone. Around 1\,000 dancers and 28 drum groups performed last year\, with similar numbers expected again. \n\nWhite Earth Pow Wow\nThe White Earth Pow Wow will officially begin with a blessing of the White Earth Powwow Grounds on Thursday at 11 AM\, followed by a feast at noon; all are are welcome at the feast. \nWhile each day of the White Earth Pow Wow will be filled with events\, the best time for spectators is Saturday. That is the day when there are the most dancers. Between 2\,500 and 3\,000 people are expected to attend. There is no admission fee to enter\, and parking is free as well. A community feast is held both Saturday and Sunday at 5 p.m.\, which is also free of charge. \nThe flag raising will be conducted Saturday and Sunday at 10 am. Grand Entries are Friday at 7 pm\, as well as both Saturday and Sunday at 1 pm and 7 pm. The Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Pow Wow celebrates the culture and socializing of American Indians. It is a “living event” and not a “reenactment.” Public Pow Wows invite non-American Indian people to learn and enjoy the celebration\, while also respecting the culture. \n\nNanticoke Lenni-Lenape Pow Wow\nThe Powwow committee reserves the right to require tribal identification cards from competition dancers. Michigan’s Heritage Park Civil War Weekend will include drills\, battles\, music\, children’s activities\, and a talks by special presenters. \nThe Third Michigan Volunteer Infantry Company F Reenactors\, a group of civilian reenactors\, will set up camp at the park for the weekend. The men and women of the Third Michigan are as authentic as possible in their dress and manner as they portray what life was like during the American Civil War for soldiers and civilians alike. \nThe park will open at 10 a.m. both days. There will be traditional dancing\, arts and crafts booths\, food vendors and opportunity drawings. The San Luis Rey Mission Inter-Tribal Powwow is held the second weekend of June on Saturday and Sunday\, and is free and open to the public. \n\nSan Luis Rey Mission Inter-Tribal Powwow\nThe San Luis Rey Mission Inter-Tribal Powwow is one of the largest in the region\, and it is the only powwow presented on the grounds of a California mission. A highlight of the powwow is the Grand Entry that takes place at the beginning of each dance session (see below schedule). Thousands are expected over the weekend\, with the majority being non-native spectators. The powwow\, sponsored by The San Luis Rey Mission Indian Foundation\, has a reputation as a very friendly\, welcoming\, family-oriented powwow with beautiful weather and a beautiful location. \nThroughout each day\, men\, women and youth dancers will participate in intertribal competition dancing (fancy shawl\, jingle\, grass\, hoop and traditional styles) and drumming. Only Period tents are permitted in the Village. \nAbout the Old Bedford Village Civil War Reenactment\nEach June\, picturesque Old Bedford Village plays host to the clash of the Blue and the Gray during their annual Old Bedford Village Civil War Reenactment and Living History event. \nOld Bedford Village Civil War Reenactment Mini Gallery\n\n \nWhile America’s deadliest war never actually reached the town of Bedford\, as General Robert E Lee’ Confederate Army invaded Pennslyvania in the summer of 1863\, the threat facing this area was very real. Just north of Bedford near the town of Loysburg\, a network of defensive trenches dug to protext Loysburg Gap survives to this day. The trenches were occupied in June of 1863 as residents of the area feared the invasion could target the farms and livestock of Morrison’s Cove and the railroad in Altoona to support Confederate troop in the field. \nEach year\, the Old Bedford Village Civil War Reenactment features hundreds of reenactors from state across the region. These living historians have a true passion for the Civil War time period they portray\, and have spent thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours researching what and where to obtain the equipment and knowledge needed to portray the life of the common soldier serving in that war. \nDuring the Old Bedford Village Civil War Reenactment\, visitors can visit the camp sites of soldiers serving in both the Union and Confederate armies. They can witness what camp life was like\, learn how the soldiers passed the time when they weren’t marching or fighting\, and speak with the reenactors (and don’t worry\, they do like to talk about this favorite topic). Civilian life is also represented as many women and children also attend the event in period attire. Each afternoon a battle reenactment will unfold\, and visitors will have the opportunity to see first-hand the sights\, sounds\, and smells of battle. No history book or television documentary can give a viewer as realistic an experience as attending a Civil War reenactment in person. \nWhat makes the Old Bedford Village Civil War Reenactment even more special is the Village itself. Because of the many original 17th and 18th century structures on site\, Old Bedford Village truly presents the image of a town that ha been overrun by two great armies\, with residents forced from their homes as soldiers move in\, camp in their yards\, and procure their food and livestock. Visitors can tour the building.
