No one is permitted to compete without registering. \nTribal Powwows are not an outlet for the non-American Indian spectators to “play Indian.” Spectators should NOT be dressed in regalia. This is not a costume party. It is a celebration that respects the ancestors and the ways of American Indian People. Tape recording of the drums should be done only after asking the drum group. This year\, commemorates the 155th Anniversary of the Battle of Antietam. Hundreds of Union and Confederate reenactors set up their camps at the Village\, bring their horses and cannons\, and give you an unrivaled opportunity to take a look at life in the 1860s during the American Civil War. Battle reenactments are held both days\, complete with cannons. It’s a spectacular display that you won’t want to miss! \n\nOld Bedford Village Civil War Reenactment\nThe Old Bedford Village Civil War Reenactment is one of the largest events of its type in Pennsylvania. Some great scenarios are planned for the Antietam commemoration that include the Dunker Church\, Sunken Road\, and a special Saturday night non-spectator Burnside’s Bridge. \nHours: Sat & Sun 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. \nAdmission: Adult $10; Seniors $9; Students (Age 6 to 18) $5; Under Age 6 FREE \nLocation\nOld Bedford Village\n220 Sawblade Road\nBedford\, PA 15522 \nFor More Informaton: tel: 814-623-1156 or 800-238-4347; e-mail: village15522@gmail.com \nOld Bedford Village Civil War Reenactment is an independent event organized by Old Bedford Village and hosted by Birney’s Division Civil War Reenactors. \nReenactor Information (select links below) \nReeactor Registration Form\nReenactor Rules\nCivil War Sutler Registration Form\nAll goods offered must be 19th century related. Only Period tents are permitted in the Village. \nAbout the Old Bedford Village Civil War Reenactment\nEach June\, picturesque Old Bedford Village plays host to the clash of the Blue and the Gray during their annual Old Bedford Village Civil War Reenactment and Living History event. \nOld Bedford Village Civil War Reenactment Mini Gallery\n\n \nWhile America’s deadliest war never actually reached the town of Bedford\, as General Robert E Lee’ Confederate Army invaded Pennslyvania in the summer of 1863\, the threat facing this area was very real. Just north of Bedford near the town of Loysburg\, a network of defensive trenches dug to protext Loysburg Gap survives to this day. The trenches were occupied in June of 1863 as residents of the area feared the invasion could target the farms and livestock of Morrison’s Cove and the railroad in Altoona to support Confederate troop in the field. \nEach year\, the Old Bedford Village Civil War Reenactment features hundreds of reenactors from state across the region. These living historians have a true passion for the Civil War time period they portray\, and have spent thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours researching what and where to obtain the equipment and knowledge needed to portray the life of the common soldier serving in that war. \nDuring the Old Bedford Village Civil War Reenactment\, visitors can visit the camp sites of soldiers serving in both the Union and Confederate armies. They can witness what camp life was like\, learn how the soldiers passed the time when they weren’t marching or fighting\, and speak with the reenactors (and don’t worry\, they do like to talk about this favorite topic). Civilian life is also represented as many women and children also attend the event in period attire. Each afternoon a battle reenactment will unfold\, and visitors will have the opportunity to see first-hand the sights\, sounds\, and smells of battle. No history book or television documentary can give a viewer as realistic an experience as attending a Civil War reenactment in person. \nWhat makes the Old Bedford Village Civil War Reenactment even more special is the Village itself. Because of the many original 17th and 18th century structures on site\, Old Bedford Village truly presents the image of a town that ha been overrun by two great armies\, with residents forced from their homes as soldiers move in\, camp in their yards\, and procure their food and livestock. Visitors can tour the building. Some will be occupied by the reenactors while others will feature Old Bedford Village’s skilled tradesmen and artisans who can explain their craft such as blacksmithing\, spinning and weaving\, tin smithing\, candle making and more. \nAbout Old Bedford Village\nCross the Claycomb covered bridge and step back in time to the 18th century at Old Bedford Village. Stroll through the Village of over 36 period workshops and log cabins for a real immersion experience. Call in on our period clothed crafts men and women\, learn about Bedford’s historic past…allow time for a light snack in the Village Tavern\, perhaps a horse and buggy ride around the Village? Be sure to check out dates for our special events on our website at www.oldbedfordvillage.com If you’d like a new way to look at history\, come see a historical reenactment at Old Bedford Village\, we’ll get you so close to the past\, you’ll be able to touch\, smell and hear it! Open Memorial day to Labor day Mon-Sun 9am-5pm Closed Wednesdays Sep to Oct: Thurs\, Fri\, Sat & Sun 9am – 5pm. \n \nMark your calendar today so you don’t miss the next Old Bedford Village Civil War Reenactment & Living History in Bedford\, Pennslyvania. \nTags: Old Bedford Village Civil War Reenactment\, Old Bedford Village Civil War Days\, Civil War Reenactment \nView other Civil War Reenactments\, Encampments & Other Events

From this location the stream is sometimes called Henry’s Fork of the Snake River. The fort was isolated and the trappers were unable to obtain supplies. To add to their woes\, the winter proved quite severe\, causing the party to abandon this post in 1811. It was situated on the southeast side of the town of Egin\, Idaho\, about 2.6 miles from the Fort Henry Rendezvous site. \nMark your calendar today so you don’t miss the next Fort Henry Rendezvous the first week of June at the Fort Henry Rendezvous Site just north of Rexburg\, Idaho. \nTags: Fort Henry Rendezvous\, Fort Henry Buckskinners Rendezvous\, Idaho Rendezvous\, Idaho Buckskinners Rendezvous\, Idaho Mountain Man Rendezxvous \nView other Idaho Rendezvous

Bent’s Old Fort operated from 1833 until 1849 and was an edifice that was strategically important in the opening of the American Southwest under then President Polk. The first weekend in June\, Fort de Chartres State Historic Site hosts the largest rendezvous in Illinois or the Midwest with over a thousand participants\, hundreds of encampments\, and thousands of visitors joining in on the festivities. Based on the traditional French fur trapper’s rendezvous where trappers and traders would meet at a predetermined location to trade furs for necessities\, these rendezvous were the highlight of the fur trapper’s year and now the Fort De Chartres Summer Rendezvous is the highlight of Fort de Chartres’s extensive calendar of historical events and activities. \n\nFort De Chartres Summer Rendezvous\nThe Annual Fort De Chartres Summer Rendezvous offers participants and visitors alike a glimpse into the period from 1740-1840\, a part of Illinois’ past when it was governed not only by France but by Great Britain and the United States as well. Costumed reenactors portray a variety of personas including colonial military units\, mountain men\, Native Americans\, settlers\, merchants\, and more. Historical demonstrations are located at various locations on the grounds and there are periodic demonstrations that include period music\, military drills\, and musket and cannon competitions. \n@ Fort de Chartres State Historic Site\, at 1350 IL Route 155\, 4 miles west of Prairie du Rocher. The event is open and free to general public with special event parking for this event just $5 a car. Donations welcomed. For more information contact the site at (618) 284-7230 or email lesamisdufortdechartres@gmail.com. \nThe two-day popular Annual Fort De Chartres Summer Rendezvous features shooting competitions\, military drills\, dancing\, music\, food\, and traders of eighteenth-century-style goods. The boom of cannons\, the smell of campfires and a parade of colorful uniforms will transport visitors back to the 1700s. The Rendezvous features 18th century military units\, traditional craft demonstrations\, period music and dancing\, black powder shooting events and cannon firings – all from the time when France controlled what is now Illinois. Visitors can try their hand at throwing a tomahawk\, buy hand-made crafts\, learn about French kitchen gardens\, and watch swordsmen duel\, taste delicious food and much more. \nFort De Chartres Summer Rendezvous Mini-Gallery\n[/fusion_gallery]\n \nAs Fort de Chartres is an Illinois Historic Preservation Agency site\, there is a wide variety of interpretive activities that can be found throughout the grounds. These activities run continuously throughout both days. In the Native Crafts area\, visitors can learn first hand the arts of bow and arrow making\, hide tanning\, basket weaving\, the use of native foods and herbs\, pottery\, the construction of wigwams\, and the history of how and why the fur trade became such an important frontier industry. There are also archery demonstrations and competitions. \nThe Colonial Area features demonstrations that include spinning\, dyeing\, the use of looms\, woodworking\, weaving\, quilting\, rope making\, coopering\, and blacksmiths. Located in the Fort buildings themselves are a French Patron (River Boatman\,) a French Marines quarters\, a Jesuit missionary in the Fort’s Chapel\, and the Piethman Museum. A French Colonial garden\, oxen\, and baked goods for sale from a working stone oven can be found near the demonstration areas. Throughout the grounds are demonstrations by independent merchants illustrating their skills\, and displaying and selling their creations. \nFort de Chartres began as a French military outpost. The reconstructed stone fort represents the third fort built by the French\, the first two wooden forts having been destroyed by the Mississippi River. It was this stone fort that the French turned over to the British in 1765 after the end of the French and Indian War. The British abandoned this fort\, moving their territorial headquarters to the nearby town of Kaskaskia. The abandoned stone fort was visited by George Rogers Clark during his expedition during the Revolutionary War. Representing this military tradition are a number of military reenactment units and marching bands representing all three colonial powers. Rifle\, musket\, and artillery competitions are all part of the scheduled programs. \nPeriod music can be found at any time during Fort De Chartres Summer Rendezvous. A center stage is set up within the fort and features various musical groups throughout the day. Many of these groups can be found entertaining visitors throughout the grounds when they are not featured on the main stage. In addition marching military bands with drums\, flutes\, bagpipes\, and other instruments can be seen patrolling the grounds. \nHundreds of tents\, teepees\, and other primitive shelters become the weekend home for the over one thousand reenactors who come to the Fort De Chartres June Rendezvous from across the country. Visitors can gain a lot of insight into the life styles of the fur trapping era by exploring the Primitive Camp. The reenactors are a friendly bunch and are happy to talk about the specifics of their camp and the personas they portray. Sutlers\, merchants\, and trade blankets are located throughout the grounds selling many period related goods that are only available at this type of event. \n \nLocation\nFort de Chartres State Historic Site\n350 State Route 155\nPrairie du Rocher\, IL 62277\nDirections: 4 miles west of Prairie du Rocher\, about an hours drive south of St. Louis. Following the battle\, a reenactment of the historic Hanger amputation will take place in Sutler Row on Main Street. \nAbout the actual Battle of Philippi\nThe Battle of Philippi formed part of the Western Virginia Campaign of the American Civil War\, and was fought in and around Philippi\, Virginia (now West Virginia) on June 3\, 1861. On May 28\, 1861\, Col. George Porterfield and his Confederate troops arrived in Philippi\, where they camped or were quartered in town. Neighbors and families were already divided on the question of secession. There were at least 750\, if not upwards of 2\,000 troops. At daylight on June 3\, two columns of Union forces\, with perhaps 3\,000 men\, arrived from Grafton under the command of Col. Ebenezer Dumont and Col. Benjamin Kelley. A Union victory\, it was the first organized land action of the war\, though generally viewed as a skirmish rather than a battle. \nMistaking a pistol shot by a Mrs. Humpreys on the hill above the town as a signal to start the battle\, the Union troops fired on the Confederates with two brass six-pound Napoleon cannons. The Confederates routed to a big rock south of town and departed in good order to Belington and ultimately to Beverly. \nThe Original Blue and Gray Renuion\nOn June 3\, 1911 the first “Home Coming Week” ever held in Barbour County of the “Blue and Gray Soldiers” who participated in the 1861 battle was held. The program included speeches\, band concerts\, “public talks by Old Soldiers”\, entertainment\, fireworks\, parachute jumps\, parades\, a hot-air balloon ascension\, and a “Sham Battle conducted by the State Militia.” In 1988\, the City of Philippi published a “Call to Arms” to plan for an annual Blue & Gray Reunion to begin the first week of June\, 1989. \nBlue and Gray Reunion – Battle of Philippi Reenactment Mini-Gallery\n\n \nToday’s reunion includes Sutlers and crafts tents\, a parade\, encampments for re-enactors from both sides of the war\, artillery and small arms demonstrations\, a choir concert\, Civil War Ball\, and of course\, a re-enactment of the first land battle of the Civil War. \nPublic Welcome – Free Admission \nLocation: Downtown Philippi\, WV \nFor More Information\nMail: PO Box 911\, Philippi\, WV 26416\nPhone: 304-457-3773\nEmail: information@blueandgrayreunion.org\nPhilippi area contact: CVB at 304-457-3700 \nBlue and Gray Reeunion Featured Events (subject to change)\n(Check daily schedules for day and time) \n\nHorse and Buggy Parade\nWalking History (for adults) joining Kids’ Day\nPickin’ Porch – all weekend on Courthouse Square\nOpening Ceremonies – Thursday\nGrand Opening and Blue & Gray Community Choir\nHorse and Buggy Parade\nKids’ Day/Walking History – Friday\n25-30 Learning Stations\nVisit with General Stonewall Jackson\nGrand Parade\n5K Race\nKayak and Stand Up Paddle Board Races\nPie Contest at the Gazebo\nCivil War Ball\nConfederate and Union Camps open for the public\nReenactment – First Land Battle of Civil War\nReenactment-Hanger Amputation\nCrafters Park and Food Vendors on Courthouse Square\nLive entertainment – at the Gazebo all weekend;
