SUMMARY:Battles for New Berne Reenactment
DESCRIPTION:The Battles for New Berne Reenactment on March 11-12\, 2017 at the Kinsey Farm in Dover\, North Carolina will see over 1500 Civil War re-enactors recreate two historic battles. The Bellair Plantation\, site of the Battles for New Berne Reenactment\, is eight miles west of New Bern. \n[embedyt]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfzqVQZgqVQ&width=540&height=333[/embedyt] \nThe Battles for New Berne Reenactment is being sponsored by the SCV Rains Brothers Camp 1370 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans in New Bern\, along with the 5th North Carolina State Troops Co. D and the 7th North Carolina State Troops Co. F. Major contributors with artillery in the event are Riley’s Battery and the Northampton Artillery. \nSaturday & Sunday Battle Reenactments\nThere will be a Saturday re-enactment of the Battle of New Bern\, which took place on March 14\, 1862 east of New Bern at the current New Bern Historical Society’s Battlefield Park. On Sunday\, a re-enactment is planned for the Battle of Batchelder’s Creek\, which took place on February. 1\, 1864. It was an attempt by Gen. Robert Pickett to retake New Bern from the Federalists. While it was a Confederate victory\, the city remained under Union control until the end of the war. \nAt the Battles for New Berne Reenactment\, participants will be in camps for Union and Confederate troops\, with soldiers cooking and living as they did in that era. There will also be many traveling sutlers\, who during the Civil War\, followed the troops and sold needed wares to troops and civilians alike. A number of other artillery demonstrations are also planned. Saturday and Sunday’s activities will also feature speakers. On-site food vendors will be available. \nFor the actual battle re-enactments\, spectators will ring the battlefield and are encouraged to bring chairs and ear-protection if they are sensitive to loud noises. \nAdmission\nKids up to 6 yrs old Free.\nKids 7 to 12 $5.00.\nAdults & Children 12 and above $10.00\nCandlelight Tour Tickets $3.00 (graphic\, may not suitable for young kids)\nTickets will be sold at event site or you can do online sales. SUMMARY:The Battle of Temple Junction
DESCRIPTION:City of Temple’s Parks and Recreation Department along with the Major Robert M. White Camp #1250\, Sons of Confederate Veterans is planning the 8th Annual Civil War Reenactment\, The Battle of Temple Junction. \nThe event kicks off on Friday\, May 20 with area school districts participating in living history demonstrations of how soldiers cooked\, slept and camped. \nFull-scale battles open to the public will be held on Saturday\, May 21 and Sunday\, May 22 along with military surgeon demonstrations and cavalry competitions. \nThe Battle of Temple Junction is a fictitious battle\, as Temple was not founded until well after the War Between the States. The purpose of the event is to illustrate how a typical battle was fought and how Union and Confederate troops lived and trained during the war. Reenactors will use either period or reproduction weapons\, uniforms\, and gear. \nThe reenactment grounds will also have food vendors and period vendors\, called Sutlers\, who will sell their wares to the reenactors and the general public
