The Town of Concord\, joined by area minute companies and Minute Man National Historical Park\, commemorate the fight at Meriams Corner that sparked the six-hour running battle back to Boston at this annual Meriams Corner Exercise. Meriams Corner Exercise is held on the grounds of the Meriam House\, with a short parade starting at 1:00 pm from Ripley School and concluding with ceremonies at Meriam’s Corner. \n\nMeriams Corner Exercise\nThis annual commemoration marks the assembly and actions of militia and minuteman units that arrived at Meriams Corner during the British retreat from Concord\, Aril 19\, 1775. After the Regulars’ withdrawal from the North Bridge where they had engaged with more than 400 Minutemen\, they began a retreat back to Boston. By the time the Regulars arrived at this spot at half past noon\, there were reported to be about 1\,100 Minutemen in the area from more than a dozen towns. A challenge by the Regulars started a classic guerilla action\, which continued for many hours as the outnumbered British retreated towards Boston. At least two British privates were killed and several others wounded here during that initial exchange. By the time the day was over\, 49 Colonials and 73 British troops were killed\, plus 173 wounded and missing. \nThe actions commerated here at the Meriams Corner Exercise began a war that would not end until Yorktown\, more than 6 long years later. Minute companies\, fife and drum\, and the Concord Independent Battery commemorate the fight at Meriam’s Corner. In addition to a parade\, there will be musket and cannon firing and fife and drum music. \nParticipating UnitsGroups such as the Middlesex County Volunteers Fifes and Drums take part in the parade and other Meriams Corner Exercise activities. \nAbout Patriots’ Day ActivitiesEach year thousands of people flock to historic Lexington and Concord and Minute Man National Historical Park to celebrate Patriots’ Day. Watch as minutemen from throughout New England convene on the Town Common and march with fife and drum down The Great Road to Wilson Park to watch the official Pole Capping tradition. A minuteman will proclaim freedom by shinnying up a 25-foot pole and placing a red cap atop it\, and British soldier will arrive to disrupt the festivities. The Bedford Liberty Pole Capping Parade and Ceremony is one of the opening event for all of the minuteman companies of the region; it is a chance for Revolutionary War reenactors to get in uniform and shake off the cobwebs for the winter. \n\nBedford Liberty Pole Capping Parade and Ceremony\nAnnually\,two Saturdays before Patriots’ Day\, the Bedford Minuteman Company and Minuteman Companies from the area converge on Willson Park in Bedford to commemorate the spirit and courage of the patriots who sparked the American Revolution. \nBedford Pole Capping Revived in 1965\nThe modern tradition of pole capping in Bedford began in 1965 following the formation of the modern-day Bedford Minuteman Company the previous year. The history of pole capping dates back to Roman times but was most prevalent during colonial times. The most notable pole capping took place in Boston in 1765 and was a tree\, not a pole\, located at juncture of Washington and Essex Streets. The “Liberty Tree” was a symbol of the Sons of Liberty\, a revolutionary organization. When a red flag was raised at the top of the tree\, it was a sign to for the group to organize. Liberty Poles sprang up in communities around the colonies\, including Bedford. Today\, the annual Bedford Liberty Pole Capping Parade and Ceremony takes place as a celebration of Bedford’s resolve and patriotic spirit during the American Revolution. \nBedford Liberty Pole Capping Mini-Gallery\n[/fusion_gallery]\n \nThe Bedford Liberty Pole Capping Parade and Ceremony features a march\, displays of musketry\, and music of the period performed by the men and women of the many Minuteman Companies in attendance. But the main event – which draws not only spectators\, but also the soldiers of His Majesty’s 10th Regiment of Foot\, intent on stopping the defiant rabble-rousing – is the raising of a tall wooden pole\, which is climbed by a Bedford Minuteman and affixed with a red knitted cap. \nThe “Pole Capping” reenacts the practice in Colonial America of dissatisfaction with varied rulings and conduct of the English government. This defiance to the British Crown showed the spirit of liberty exemplified by Bedfordians and other colonials in the early phases of the War for Independence. \nThe Town of Bedford displayed equally the spirit and courage of their compatriots with\, among other acts of courage\, the erection of their own Liberty Poles. It is in commemoration of those men\, and their American feeling for Liberty at the Bedford Liberty Pole Capping Parade and Ceremony\, that the Bedford Minuteman Company conducts its annual Liberty Pole Capping and Raising ceremonies. \nParticipants in the Bedford Liberty Pole Capping Parade and Ceremony\nThe Stow Minutemen: The annual Liberty Pole Capping Parade and ceremonies is the traditional kickoff for fife and drum corps. You’ll want to BE THERE no later than 10:00 am\, Parade steps off promptly at 10:30am. We meet in the high school parking lot over near the tennis courts and soccer fields directly in front of the school. Form up there around 9:30 am – 9:45 am and then we’ll march over as a group to the Bedford Commons to await the start of the parade. \nMark your calendar today so you don’t miss the next Bedford Liberty Pole Capping Parade and Ceremony at Wilson Park in Bedford\, MA. \n \nTags: Bedford Liberty Pole Capping Parade and Ceremony\, Bedford Liberty Pole Capping\, Bedford Liberty Pole Capping Parade\, Bedford Liberty Pole Capping Ceremony\, Patriot’s Day Events \nView other Patriots Day Reenactments and Other Events\nView other Revolutionary War Reenactments & Other Events

Major General Nathanael Greene\, defending the ground at Guilford Courthouse with an army of almost 4\,500 American militia and Continentals\, was tactically defeated by a smaller British army of about 1\,900 veteran regulars and German allies commanded by Lord Charles Cornwallis. After 2-1/2 hours of intense and often brutal fighting\, Cornwallis forced his opponent to withdraw from the field. Greene’s retreat preserved the strength of his army\, but Cornwallis’s frail victory was won at the cost of over 25% of his army. \nGuilford Courthouse proved to be the highwater mark of British military operations in the Revolutionary War. Weakened in his campaign against Greene\, Cornwallis abandoned the Carolinas hoping for success in Virginia. At Yorktown\, seven months after his victory at Guilford Courthouse\, Lord Cornwallis would surrender to the combined American and French forces under General George Washington. \nFor More Information: \nGuilford Battleground Company patriots@guilfordbattlegroundcompany.org\nReenactor Information: carlivar@yahoo.com \nMark your calendar today so you don’t miss the next Battle of Guilford Courthouse Reenactment in Greensboro\, North Carolina. \n \nTags: Battle of Guilford Courthouse Reenactment\, Revolutionary War Reenactment\, Guilford Courthouse Battle Reenactment \nView other Revolutionary War Reenactments & Other Events

River crossings are contingent upon safe conditions for participants. However\, even if conditions do not allow for crossing\, ceremonies\, speeches and commemorative activities still occur. We suggest visitors arrive before 1:00 P.M. on Christmas Day to ensure a good place along the viewing line. \nOrigins of the Crossing Event\nWhile the annual crossing has been popular for decades\, it had difficulty in its early origins. The first few attempts at a commemoration Crossing in 1838 and then again in 1876 lead to rowdiness among the reenactors and the event was not repeated again for nearly 100 years. In 1947\, a fraternity promoted a non-hazing initiation by reenacting the famous trip across the Delaware\, sparking new interest in holding an annual Crossing. When National Geographic Magazine featured a story about the Crossing in 1952 complete with photos\, the modern tradition was born. \nAbout Washington Crossing Historic Park (Pennsylvania side)\nWashington Crossing Historic Park is located at the intersection of Routes 532 and 32 (River Road) in Washington Crossing\, Pennsylvania. The location is by the Intracoastal Canal in the shadow of the Great Bridge Bridge. \n\nBattle of Great Bridge Reenactment\nStep back in time with us. The Battle of Great Bridge Reenactment features re-enactments of two pivotal Revolutionary War battles: the Battle at Kemps Landing and the Battle of Great Bridge. The event also features Revolutionary War encampments\, demonstrations\, character portrayals\, camp life\, historical displays and lectures\, skilled artisans demonstrating early American trades\, and children’s crafts and activities. \nSince that first reenactment\, the battle of Great Bridge evolved into a two-day annual event sponsored by the Chesapeake Department of Parks\, Recreation and Tourism. Initially it was held at Chesapeake City Park in Greenbrier. Eventually\, it was moved to Great Bridge Battlefield Park South on Battlefield Boulevard\, the original site of the historic battle. \nBattle of Great Bridge Reenactment Mini-Gallery\n\n \nReenactors and historical interpreters who have regularly participated in the battle event have created an increased local interest in the battle that has generated enthusiasm for the creation of the Great Bridge Battlefield & Waterways history museum that is scheduled to open its doors by December 2018. \nWhat was once considered a mere footnote skirmish in the annals of America’s War for Independence is now regarded as a pivotal battle during the early days of the conflict. It’s known as “the Southern Bunker Hill” but this time on Dec. 9\, 1775\, at a berm known as Great Bridge\, just a musket ball shot from next weekend’s event\, the Patriots defeated an army of professional British soldiers and Tory militia. It opened southern supply routes and allowed the important Norfolk harbor to fall in Continental hands. \n \nFREE to the Public\nHours:: Saturday & Sunday 10 am to 4 pm \nConcessions: available for sale on both days. \nFor More Information:\nAngela J. Fun\, food\, and activities for everyone! \nAbout Jonas Cattell Memorial Run\nAt the age of 18\, in October 1777\, Jonas Cantwell became a hero. At that time\, a force of Hessian troops was camped in Haddonfield. Jonas was said to have been apprenticed to a blacksmith in Haddonfield\, but had stayed there too late and was arrested by the soldiers for violating curfew. His punishment was to spend the night in jail until first light. During the night\, Jonas overheard the Hessian and British soldiers discussing a surprise\, early morning attack they were planning for the following day. They planned to march to Fort Mercer on the Delaware River and overthrow the American patriots who were stationed there. \n[su_accordion][su_spoiler title=”More about Jonas Cattell”]\nJonas Cattell was familiar with all of the back trails in the area. In fact\, he was known to have created a number of the trails. When he was released the following morning\, Jonas used those back trails and ran the ten miles from Haddonfield to Fort Mercer so he could warn the patriots. Thanks to his knowledge of the area\, he arrived well before the Hessians. This warning allowed the Americans to strategically position themselves to defend their fort. Even though the American patriots were outnumbered by three to one\, because they were able to prepare for the battle against the Hessians\, they were able to defeat the Hessian and British soldiers\, and to inflict massive casualties while suffering minimal losses within their own ranks. After the battle\, Jonas Cattell enlisted in the American forces and served throughout the Revolutionary War. \nThe Jonas Cattell Run was started in 1969 to honor this great American hero\, and takes place each year during October. The Jonas Cattell Run starts at King’s Court in Haddonfield and finishes at Fort Mercer in National Park\, New Jersey. The Haddonfield DAR Chapter presents a plaque to the first teenage runner to reach the finish line at Fort Mercer[/su_spoiler][/su_accordion] \n \nAbout the Battle of Red Bank\nLate in September 1777\, Philadelphia was captured by British General William Howe\, with a serious disadvantage. Extensive American river defenses blocked the shipping of food and supplies to the British army and citizens of Philadelphia. A major attack was planned against the garrison at Fort Mercer. A British brigade of about 1\,200 Hessians under Colonel Carl Emil Ulrich Von Donop was ferried over to Coopers Ferry (now Camden) spending the night in Haddonfield. \n[su_accordion][su_spoiler title=”Read More”]\nOn the morning of October 22\, 1777\, Colonel Von Donop and his brigade marched on Fort Mercer. Young Jonas Cattell\, an apprentice blacksmith\, alerted Colonel Christopher Greene that a surprise attack was imminent. Around 4 pm\, the attack began. Quickly gaining the old northern section of the fort\, the Hessians faced another 10 foot wall and abatis of sharpened tree trunks and branches. The disordered Hessians tried to move forward\, but the Americans gained the advantage and held the fort. Hessian casualties amounted to over 500\, including the mortally wounded Von Donop; while American counted 14 killed and 23 wounded out of 600. Many of the wounded\, including Von Donop were taken to the Whitall house where they were tended by American doctors and Ann Whitall\, who had remained in her home. Colonel Von Donop died in another house nearby and was interred with remains of his brigade on the battlefield. \nThe battle of Red Bank resulted in heavy losses to the British and was a much needed morale builder to Washington’s army\, giving new hope and rallying the spirits of the soldiers. This victory coupled with the British defeat at Saratoga\, New York\, resulted in the French decision to enter the war against Great Britain. The annual event takes place on the last weekend of October\, transforming the picturesque grounds of the Locust Grove Estate into an interactive living history exhibit offering an unforgettable experience. The two-day 18th Century Market Fair at Locust Grove features staged battle reenactments between British and American troops\, historically accurate arts and crafts from blacksmiths and Georgian age crafters and roaming historians filled with information and anecdotes that are great for all ages. \n\n18th Century Market Fair at Locust Grove\nJoin with Locust Grove and the Illinois Regiment of Virginia as they bring the spirit of the past alive with the 18th Century Market Fair at Locust Grove. You can participate in 18th c. style entertainment\, purchase replicas of 18th century military and household items\, enjoy food and drink as our founders did\, meet and converse with early Americans. Mock battles for our country’s independence feature General George Rogers Clark’s own company\, the Illinois Regiment of Virginia\, as well as British Dragoons and Marines\, and German Hessians. \nExperience Historic Locust Grove as it comes alive with the sounds of chatting and bargaining\, the smells of wood smoke and gunpowder\, and all the sights you would expect from a Market Fair set in the 1780s. Visitors will be able to converse with men\, women\, and children about life during the final years of the War for Independence\, tour the house\, perhaps join in a militia drill or two\, learn songs and games from the period\, and of course\, shop at all the booths and tents that will spring up on the grounds! Over 25 vendors will be selling their period wares\, from pottery to spoons to bread to bonnets. The property is divided between the Americans and the British\, so be sure to take a tour of both camps to see and hear both sides of the story. \nMarket Fairs seem special to us today\, but they were commonplace in Colonial America. Markets held in town squares or other designated marketplaces allowed far-flung members of the community to come into nascent towns to buy\, sell\, and trade goods and gossip. Markets helped communities to grow and towns to be more firmly established\, with permanent stores and other trappings of civilization. \nHere at Locust Grove\, Market Fair is treated in much the same way as in the 1780s. The community has grown a great deal since the founding of Louisville in 1778\, and they enjoy this time to catch up with neighbors and friends. The 18th Century Market Fair at Locust Grove offers an opportunity to check in on that earlier era\, and immerse yourself in the daily activities of those who have come before us. Like Market Fairs of old\, there is something for everyone. Market Fair is a rain or shine event\, and there is plenty to do under cover even if we have some showers. \n18th Century Market Fair at Locust Grove Mini Gallery\n\n \nConcessions available. The Battle was the first planned attack by the American army during the Revolutionary War and aimed at liberating Philadelphia from British control. Eleven of Historic Germantown’s sites were involved in the October 4\, 1777 Battle\, with Cliveden as the main stage. The tradition of remembering the Battle of Germantown through reenactment dates to the 150th anniversary in 1927\, where people dressed in their ancestors’ clothing to show their connections to the historic event. Today\, the Revolutionary Germantown Festival and Germantown Battle Reenactments that it includes\, tells the diverse stories of everyone involved\, from General George Washington\, to Ned Hector\, an African American Patriot teamster\, and even the pacifist Quakers who got caught in the cross-fire. \nHistory of the Battle of Germantown\nOne day in history\, General George Washington’s daring campaign to liberate the occupied capital city\, Philadelphia\, came to an abrupt end on the Germantown Road on October 4\, 1777. Washington planned a pre-dawn attack on Germantown\, where thousands of British soldiers were camped in the fields\, living off the crops and livestock of the local residents. Homes were commandeered as headquarters for the British officers\, including General William Howe at Stenton. Nearly 12\,000 Continental troops were marshaled for the attack\, yet 120 British infantrymen proved unbeatable as they barricaded themselves inside the thick stone walls of Cliveden\, the summer house of the wealthy Loyalist Benjamin Chew.[su_accordion][su_spoiler title=”Read More”]\nFierce fighting raged for several hours throughout the area\, but Washington’s troops were eventually forced to retreat back into Montgomery County and the British tightened their hold on the town. After the Battle\, local teenagers helped to bury the dead in mass graves. More than 150 American soldiers were killed — about half of them on the grounds of Cliveden — and 70 British. Hundreds more on both sides were wounded. The Battle of Germantown left indelible scars on the community.[/su_spoiler][/su_accordion] \nMark your calendar today so you don’t miss the next Revolutionary Germantown Festival and Battle Reenactment on the first Saturday in October around the Cliveden Mansion in Philadelphia\, Pennsylvania. \n \nTags: Revolutionary Germantown Festival\, Germantown Battle Reenactment\, Battle of Germantown Reenactment\, Revolutionary War Reenactmetn \nView other Revolutionary War Reenactments\, Musters\, Encampments & Other Events

The attack on the Kentucky settlement of Boonesborough was led by Chief Blackfish\, a Shawnee leader allied to the British. Months before the battle\, Blackfish had captured and adopted Daniel Boone\, the founder of Boonesborough. Boone escaped the Shawnees in time to lead the defense of the settlement. Blackfish’s siege was unsuccessful and was lifted after ten days. Boone was then court-martialed by fellow officers who suspected him of having British sympathies. Boone was acquitted\, but he soon moved away from Boonesborough. \nAbout Fort Boonesborough\nRichard Henderson\, founder of the Transylvania Company in 1775\, chose Daniel Boone to head a party of 31 axe men to clear a path through the Cumberland Gap that would run from Long Island of the Holston River\, Tennessee\, to Otter Creek of the Kentucky River. Blazing the trail presented extraordinary difficulties – the route through the wilderness was a hunter’s trace that was too narrow for a wagon. The task was to combine The task was to combine many trails into one continuous route by clearing underbrush and overhanging foliage. When Daniel Boone and his men reached the Kentucky River on April 1\, 1775\, they quickly moved to establish Kentucky?s second settlement–the site still known as Fort Boonesborough. \nFor more information about 1778 Siege of Fort Boonesborough Reenactment: Phone 859-527-3131 ext 216 or email Fort Manager bill.farmer@ky.gov \nLocation\nFort Boonesborough State Park\n4375 Boonesborough Rd.\nRichmond\, Ky. 40475 \nMark your calendar today so you don’t miss the next 1778 Siege of Fort Boonesborough Reenactment at at Fort Boonesborough State Park in Richmond\, Kentucky in September. \nTags: 1778 Siege of Fort Boonesborough Reenactment\, Siege of Fort Boonesborough Reenactment\, Fort Boonesborough 1778 Seige Reenactment\, American Revolutionary War Reenactment \nView Other Texas Revolution Events\nView other Living History Events

John Brown\, no stranger to dangerous missions\, helped engineer the first capture of Ticonderoga in 1775. With the stakes all the higher\, he would test his luck again. As General Gates prepared to stop the British advance on Albany\, he ordered General Lincoln to divide\, divert\, and harass General Burgoyne’s supply lines back to Canada. Colonel Brown chose his men carefully\, allowed first pick of the ragtag patriot force assembled by General Lincoln at Pawlet\, Vermont. Massachusetts and Vermont militia men would get their chance to strike a major blow against General Burgoyne’s attack to divide the colonies. Steadying them would be regulars from Colonel Warner’s regiment of Vermonters. Out front\, Vermont rangers were to lead the way. Leading the rangers was\, Captain Benjamin Whitcomb\, a ranger so skilled in his craft he was a wanted man to the British Army. \nRushing down into the LeChute river valley from Lake George landing\, Brown’s men captured 330 British prisoners and set 118 American POWs free. Dawn at Fort Ticonderoga would see British Cannons atop Mount Defiance\, which forced the American’s to flee that summer\, turned on the British garrison itself. British soldiers awoke to the sight of a Brunswick soldier cut in half by a British cannon ball fired by Brown’s men from the summit of that hill. Rearmed with captured British weapons\, American POWs got a chance to settle their score shoulder to shoulder with Brown’s militia\, regulars\, and rangers. Destroying supplies\, and livestock\, capturing boats\, guns\, and cannons\, Colonel John Brown’s raiders disappeared back up Lake George\, jumping into the pages of history. \nFort Ticonderoga Browns Raid Reenactor Information\nMark you calendar today so you won’t miss the Fort Ticonderoga Browns Raid Reenactment in September at Historic Fort Ticonderoga in Ticonderoga\, New York. \n \nTags: Fort Ticonderoga Browns Raid Reenactment\, Fort Ticonderoga\, Fort Ticonderoga Browns Raid Revolutionary War Reenactment\, New York Revolutionary War Reenactment \nFort Ticonderoga Special Events\, History & Living History Daily Demonstrations\nView other Revolutionary War Reenactments\, Musters\, Encampments & Other Events

Originally built by Governor Horatio Sharpe of Maryland to protect the frontier during the French and Indian War\, his decision to build it of stone made it a lasting monument\, and a place to reuse. Twenty years later George Washington sent one of his Colonels to the Fort to turn it into a Prison camp\, and throughout the War of Independence 1000 British prisoners were kept captive\, guarded by American Troops. By the Civil War the Fort was in ruins and used as farmland\, but with the proximity of the Canal and Railway\, Union troops would often camp in those ruins to protect those supply lines from Confederate raiders. While not a turning point in history for any of those conflicts\, the program will allow a closer look at life for the common soldier serving in the Wars that shaped the Nation. For more details and program times contact the Park Visitor Center at 301-842-2155. \nFood\, gift\, and souvenir items will be available for sale at Captain Wort’s Sutler Shop. In addition to programs in the Fort\, the Parks visitor centre and exterior museums have more exhibits about its history\, including uniforms\, artifacts\, and a video. \nFort Frederick is located off of Rt 70 exit 12 at State Route 56\, Big Pool\, MD. This is a great spot to sit on benches in the shade. \nLiberty Dancers\nTwice each day\, the Liberty Dancers will demonstrate dances of the time period enjoyed by many of the founding fathers and mothers. Visitors will be given an opportunity to join in. \nEntertainment at Cheapside and throughout the Fair\nNeed to rest your feet? Puppets\, magicians\, and balladeers set up in various locations throughout the day. \nFood and Beverages \nCome hungry to the Fair at New Boston! Enjoy frontier foods authentically prepared. Scotch eggs\, smoked turkey legs\, chicken legs\, shredded beef\, pork sausage on a stick\, bison on a bun\, ham on a biscuit\, shredded chicken on a roll\, spiced roast beef\, bread with flavored butter & jam\, chicken and noodles\, Carolina rice\, green beans and potatoes\, garlic mushrooms in wine\, ham & beans\, New Brunswick stew\, and apples & cheese will delight even the pickiest eaters. For desserts choose from peaches and pound cake\, raspberries and cream\, pies\, or vanilla ice cream with plum sauce. \nDrink Up at Three Historic Taverns\nThirsty visitors will find beverages in three taverns\, The Black Horse\, Littlejohn’s\, and the Hickory\, in addition to the Dancing Goats Coffee House\, which is located right in the middle of everything. In addition to lemonade\, ice tea\, a sarsaparilla\, and bottled water\, taverns also serve beer. (Although we claim to be in 1797\, a 21st century ID is still required of guests!) \nNative American Village\nFollow the sound of drums down a forest trail to visit the growing Woodlands Indian Village. The Fair at New Boston is on the former site of two Shawnee villages\, Peckuwe and Kispoko. Handicrafts\, games\, and demonstrations of Shawnee\, Mingo\, Miami\, Wyandotte\, and other tribes are featured. All day\, you can learn how food was prepared in camp at live cooking demonstrations. This is also one of the shadiest places to come on a hot\, sunny afternoon. \nMusic\nMusic was enjoyed in 1797 in many different forms\, as it is now. Relax in a historic tavern while listening to music of the era. Musicians playing violins\, mandolins\, guitars\, and even bagpipes move from tavern to tavern and rove throughout the area. The coffeehouse is a center of entertainment and a place where you can enjoy a game of checkers or chess. \nBattle Reenactment and Cannon\nThrill to the boom of the full-sized Revolutionary War cannon. The Mad River Light Artillery Revolutionary War reenactor group sets up their bronze British Light six-pounder at the top of the hill near the flagpole and militia encampment. This group will demonstrate cannon firing many times throughout each day. \nEach afternoon\, the Fair at New Boston features the excitement of a battle reenactment. Our reenactment features militia on foot and on horse\, cannons\, Shawnee warriors\, and British Crown troops. After the battle\, visit the militia camps on the hill between Hertzler House and the George Rogers Clark Memorial. The First Mad River Light Artillery near the flag pole will be available to answer questions. \nGrand Camera Obscura\nNear the entrance to the Fair at New Boston\, an oddly shaped tent will most likely be first to catch your attention. It’s the Grand Camera Obscura. Fair attendees can be among a relatively fortunate few who can enjoy this historical scientific attraction\, which is just like the one seen in Paris more than 200 years ago. Step into the round tent and be prepared to be amazed. \n\nPremier Living History Event\nThere is time after the battle to finish shopping\, get something to eat\, and catch another of the entertainers. You will also want to see the closing ceremonies at the end of the day. \nAll of this is why the Fair at New Boston is recognized as a premiere living history event. All the music\, entertainment\, clothing\, methods of cooking\, foods served\, merchandise booths\, and equipment used by the artisans are juried (or judged) to ensure authenticity to the period. It is also special because it is held on an historic site. George Rogers Clark Park was the site of the Battle of Peckuwe\, the Shawnee villages of Peckuwe and Kispoko\, and the frontier town of New Boston. The Fair at New Boston is our way of remembering our history. There is so much to do at the Fair at New Boston that many visitors come back for a second day of fun on Sunday. \nParticipant Information\nThis is a juried event.
