DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 16th annual Frontier Forts Days on May 12-13\, 2017 at the Historic Stockyards in Fort Worth\, Texas. During this free\, two-day heritage Frontier Forts Days event\, the Stockyards National Historic District is transformed into an authentic representation of Texas frontier life. \n[embedyt]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nNkst75BD0&width=540&height=333[/embedyt] \nThe Texas Forts Days Celebration was created in 2001 to celebrate the heritage of Texas’s Frontier fort settlements\, like Fort Worth\, concentrating on the years from the early Republic in 1836 to the closing of the frontier and settlement of the late 1800s. The camps\, soldiers\, Native Americans\, settlers\, and weaponry all reflect the region’s vast expanses of open land\, when most of Texas was unsettled and our big cities were generations in the future. \nExchange Avenue in the Stockyards will be lined with encampments of historic fort sites from the Texas Forts Trail and elsewhere in Texas. Approximately 10 forts and related programs will participate in the event. Designed to highlight frontier-era life\, Frontier Forts Days brings together authentic wagons\, flags\, music\, colorful uniforms and military gear from Texas landmarks. \nInfantry\, artillery and cavalry demonstrations\, and military parades will fill the event schedule on Friday and Saturday. \nMark your calendar today so you don’t miss the next Frontier Forts Days at the Historic Stockyards in Fort Worth\, TX. \nView other History Festivals & Events
