People can watch demonstrations of weapons and hear the booms of full-scale artillery. Thrill at the charge of cavalry soldiers on powerful steeds. The Battle of Townsend’s Plantation Civil War Reenactment\, sponsored by Attorney Clay Townsend\, started in Apopka with other Civil War buffs on the grounds of Townsend’s Plantation\, which he owned and operated in the 1980s. The property is now owned by the city of Apopka\, but the battle moved up the road to Renninger’s Twin Market property\, where the battle makes progress in the rolling hills. This celebration of Native culture and arts\, hosted by the Seminole Tribe of Florida\, will be held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Seminole Tribal Fair & Pow Wow events will be held in the Hard Rock Live arena and outdoors in the Hooter’s parking lot located on the east side of Seminole Paradise adjacent to State Road 7 and the main entrance to the Seminole Hard Rock property. Don’t miss the dance and drum competition excitement! Over $150\,000 in cash prizes will bring the best singers and dancers from all across the country to compete. \n\nSeminole Tribal Fair & Pow Wow\nWith the two venues\, in addition to the usual lineup of Native arts\, crafts\, foods\, and music\, the Fair will host a Pow Wow dance competition open to all Native people from across the Americas. Watch the battle reenactments\, visit the camps and merchants\, and celebrate our history! Attending Revolutionary War reenactor regiments include: the 2nd South Carolina Continentals\, 2nd North Carolina Regiment\, British Legion\, 33rd Regiment of Foot – British\, 3rd Continental Light Dragoons\, and Kingsbury Artillery. \nCome to Graham’s Historic Farm\, where Francis Marion’s brigade staged attacks\, brought British prisoners\, and hid from Lord Tarleton. After the Battle of Tearcoat\, Marion’s Regiment came to the farm with British prisoners on their way to General Harrington in Cheraw. It was also used as a staging area for attacks on Georgetown\, which was under British control. See how Marion earned his legendary name the “Swamp Fox.” Enjoy the Patriot Games which includes a hatchet throwing contest\, apple pendulum bayonet charge\, skillet toss contest. See the British and colonial encampments. Listen to David Paul Reuwer speak on South Carolina’s revolutionary war battlefields includeing the Camden battlefield. Torch walk and Night of Lights display are on Saturday night. \nThe 2nd South Carolina Regiment and 3rd Continental Light Dragoons are pleased to announce our sponsorship of the American Heritage Festival Revolutionary War Reenactment. \nAmerican Heritage Festival Revolutionary War Reenactment Mini-Gallery\n\n \nSo\, Unit Commanders: if you are pretty sure your unit is coming to the event\, please register ASAP!! \nAbout Graham’s Historic Farm\n550 acres of private farm\, Graham’s Historic Farm has been in the family since William Graham founded it in 1738. Original documents show that the farm actively supplied food for the Continental Army during the war\, and was also used as a stop-over camp site for Patriot forces\, including Francis Marion’s brigade of partisans and captured British troops. Graham’s farm played an important role in support of Patriot forces during the “dark days” of the southern campaign. The farm remains in the Graham family today. All of the period buildings have been lost to time\, but the farmland itself remains in active use\, and the site is largely untouched by modern intrusions. \nWWII Reenactments\nWWII reenactments include the H Company Parachute Infantry Regiment\, C Company Parachute Infantry Regiment\, The 82nd Airborne\, Headquarters of the 101st Airborne\, The 307th Medical Battalion\, The 307th Engineer Battalion of the Allied\, and Germany’s 6th Parachute Division 6 Fallschimjager. \nThe Military Vehicle Collectors of South Carolina (MVCSC) will be back for the second year in a row!
