Fort Obie Mens Winter Camp is a gathering of adventurers and scoundrels that is guaranteed to cure the winter blues. You can set up a camp if you like or you can find a place in one of the three heated cabins. \nBring snacks amd whatever you plan on drinking and trade goods or games. The range will be open for a pick up match or just for plinking. If you are staying the weekend you must be dressed out in pre-1840 dress. For a few brief days in January\, journey back to the mountain man days of the 1820s and 1830s. \nMembers of the United Nebraska Muzzleloaders Association will meet for a convention and trade show on the second weekend each January (Friday – Sunday) at the Ramada Inn at 301 Second Ave. The annual event includes demonstrations\, seminars and a trade show. Admission is $6 per person. \nThe trade show offers a wide variety of items found during the heyday of the mountain men\, 1820-1840\, when trappers and explorers lived and worked in the Rocky Mountain areas. Historical estimates puts the number of individuals at about 3\,000 during the 20-year period. \nThe yearly United Nebraska Muzzleloaders Association Convention gathering allows members to reconnect and make new friends. DESCRIPTION:2019 Frontier Festival at Chehaw Park\n\nRate This Event\n \n                                    \n                                        \n                                        \n                                        \n                                        \n                                    \nStep back in time at the annual Frontier Festival at Chehaw Park on January 11-13\, 2019 in Albany\, Georgia and experience frontier life as it was between 1700 and 1840. The Frontier Festival at Chehaw will is held the second weekend each January (Friday – Sunday) and is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Smell the campfires and warm your feet while you watch the day-to-day lifestyle of pioneers and mountain men. Participants live the entire weekend as if from that era! Chehaw Park admission includes the festival. \n\nFrontier Festival at Chehaw Park\nEarly American frontier primitive skills demonstrations include cooking\, blacksmithing\, weaving\, hide tanning\, bow making\, moccasin making\, and much more. Frontier Festival at Chehaw activities include be tomahawk throwing competitions and black powder shoots. Traders will be posted throughout the festival selling their wares and traditional style foods. ‘t have a pair of deer skin britches or proper mountain man or longhunter headgear? No worries\, one of the local traders will be sure to complete your ensemble. Many of the foods and crafts that are prepared at the festival will be for sale to Festival visitors. As always\, pioneer campsites are welcomed. \nGuests can complete the immersion experience by spending the night in a 16 foot wide tipi for only $50 a night. Wake up to the smell of bacon hanging over the coals and the sound of the pre-1840s camp coming alive before spending the day among the frontiersmen.
