Here club members only will gather\, along with invited special guests and friends\, for a weekend of primitive camping and activities. The Jefferson Longrifles Rendezvous includes a variety of competitive games and challenges\, such as archery and black powder woods walks\, hawk and knife throwing competitions\, women’s games of skill and children’s games. The final evening of the rendezvous (Saturday) will culminate in a splendid camp feed with potluck dishes from rendezvous participants. \nDeep in the woods of Jefferson County\, there is a place where you can step back through the years\, to a time before Wi-Fi hotspots and Pokémon GO\, before cell phones and air conditioning\, even before electricity and indoor plumbing. The CTAGA Spring Rendezvous is a festive\, three-day gathering of buckskinners and other muzzle-loading enthusiasts\, and their families\, this event draws participants from far and near to enter shooting contests\, to camp\, to trade\, and to enjoy the good fellowship that typify the rendezvous. The rendezvous is held at a splendid\, forested site along the Arkansas River near Oxford\, Kansas. The CTAGA Spring Rendezvous is a family affair\, and it is customary for participants to dress in period clothing. Leave behind your cell phones and venture into the great outdoors of Sterling\, Oklahoma with members of the Beaver Creek Free Trappers as they both celebrate and demonstrate pre-1840s fur trade living history. Folks from Hollis\, Amarillo\, Wichita Falls\, Moore\, Lawton\, Sterling and beyond come together semiannually to participate in the Beaver Creek Free Trappers Rendezvous where they can target-shoot wearing historic attire\, using muzzleloading rifles and pistols. \nThe Beaver Creek Free Trappers host their Beaver Creek Free Trappers Rendezvous to recognize the event’s historical significance from the 1820s and 1840s and to honor and recreat those skills of the past. Primitive dress is preferred\, but not required. If a visitor wants to try his or her hand at shooting a black powder muzzle loader or throwing a knife or tomahawk\, there is usually a club member near to give instruction. \nThere are primitive camping and recreational vehicle sites\, and firewood and water will be available. What is not available is electricity\, so be prepared to cook over a campfire. Those planning to camp are asked to bring their own water buckets. \nCompetitive shooting and other contest take place on Friday and Saturday. Competition ends at 4:00 p.m. each day\, so visitors should get here early.
