The Hill is just a few short miles from historic Natchez\, Mississippi\, the oldest settlement on the Mississippi River. The Fort De Chartres Winter Rendezvous features 18th and early 19th century camp life and re-enactors who participate in a muzzleloader woods walk shooting competition. This event is sponsored by Les Amis du Fort de Chartres\, with additional event site support by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency. \n\nFort De Chartres Winter Rendezvous\nExperience life on the Illinois frontier as The Fort De Chartres Winter Rendezvous presents a weekend of colorful clothing\, hand-made crafts\, period music and delicious food at the Annual Winter Rendezvous. Reenactors dressed as soldiers\, trappers\, traders and Native Americans will gather at the rendezvous. They will trade goods\, buy supplies and have fun before winter sets in. Many participants will take part in a shooting contest that requires them to walk through the woods and fire flintlocks at pop-up targets. This is a family-friendly event\, so don’t leave anyone at home! \nThe rendezvous is fun both for the participants demonstrating frontier life in the 1700s and early 1800s\, and for visitors spending an autumn day wandering among the tents\, campfires and historic fort from another time. \nHours\nSaturday 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM\nSunday 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM \nAdmission Fee\nFree and open to the public. DESCRIPTION:2019 Texas Free Trappers Fall Rendezvous\n\nRate This Event\n \n                                    \n                                        \n                                        \n                                        \n                                        \n                                    \nExperience pre-1840s frontier life at the 2019 Texas Free Trappers Fall Rendezvous on November 8-10\, 2019 at the site of a previous Southwestern Regional Rendezvous in Shiner\, Texas. Pre-1840s period camping is stressed; however\, modern camping is allowed in an adjacent area. Buckskinning rules apply; period dress required at all times while in camp. If you are a pilgrim and want to know more about rendezvous\, you are not required to wear period clothing\, but wear clothing suitable for the woods\, no baseball caps please. Of course if you already have some period clothing\, you are on your way! \nAdmission & Fees\nMembership fee $15.00 per year per family\nCompetition fee $15.00 per competitor\nCamping only fee $10.00\nEach competitive event will hae a re-entry possible for $2.00. \nSite Entry Controlled\nRSVP Booshway or Segundo that you will be attending. Entry into site is controlled and you must call Booshway or Segundo upon arrival so they can open the gate. Call before leaving home if there is threatening weather to confirm. \nTraders\nNo additional fee for traders. Period or related items only. \nTexas Free Trappers Fall Rendezvous Mini Gallery\n\n \nThursday Activities\nThe ranch gate opens at 1:00 pm on Thursday for early arrivals. There will be Texas Free Trappers Fall Rendezvous signs posted along the roads\, so keep your eyes peeled. \nFriday and Saturday Activities\nEvents such as a Rifle Shoot\, Primitive Archery\, Hawk & Knife Throwing\, and “Get Acquainted” Campfire. \nSaturday Evening Activieit & Pot Luck Supper\nThere will be a community pot luck supper on Saturday evening (5:30ish). Please plan on having something of a main dish\, vegetables or a dessert will be welcomed and so far we have never had anyone go away hungry! Experience a primitive camp\, as well as many of the survival skills used by Arkansas pioneers. At the Petit Jean Mountain Rendezvous\, you will witness a variety of demonstrations\, including muzzleloading rifles\, tomahawk throwing\, and more! It’s a family-friendly event that is a great way to spend a Thanksgiving weekend. \n\nMountain Man Rendezvous at Petit Jean State Park\nDuring the Thanksgiving season\, visitors to Petit Jean State Park are invited to take a step back in time to the early 1800s\, at the park’s Annual Mountain Man Rendezvous. Visitors will be able to see how people dressed and lived when much of Arkansas was an unsettled wilderness in the early 1800s\, a place of French exploration and fur trade. The rendezvous camp will be open to the public on Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00  p.m.\, and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. \nDuring the Petit Jean Mountain Rendezvous visitors can get a look at life during the 1830s and an opportunity to visit with reenactors portraying that time period.
