More than 40 local tribes in the Sioux City\, Iowa\, Nebraska and South Dakota area will be represented; spectators are welcome. The pow wow is free of charge. \n\nOmaka Teca Wacipi New Years Eve Sobriety Powwow\nThe Nebraska Indian Community College and Siouxland Community parners sponsor the annual event that was started in 2014 to move away from the conventional\, sometimes negative influences of the holiday celebration. \nInstead of welcoming in the year with alcohol\, the Nebraska Indian Community College extension director\, Jim Hallum\, created the Omaka Teca Wacipi New Years Eve Sobriety Pow Wow to provide participants an alternative to all the partying and heavy drinking at other events. \nJoin us to participate in inspirational traditions ahead of the New Year as we ring in the new year on a positive note for the tribal community. \nThe two grand entries on December 31 will be followed by ceremonial dances\, special contests\, intertribal dancing and other entertainment.
