Exhibitors/Vendors are required to provide their own tents\, displays\, tables\, chairs\, etc… Rental of a booth space is per weekend and cost will vary depending on size and requested amenities. There is no admission charge for this event. \n\nWinter Trade Days at Fort Boonesboro\nWinter Trade Days at Fort Boonesborough\, like other events at the fort\, are sponsored by The Fort Boonesborough Foundation. The Foundation is made up of a group of dedicated individuals who volunteer their time to sustain\, foster\, and promote quality programming at Fort Boonesborough State Park and Boone’s Station Historic Site. \nAbout Fort Boonesborough\nRichard Henderson\, founder of the Transylvania Company in 1775\, chose Daniel Boone to head a party of 31 axe men to clear a path through the Cumberland Gap that would run from Long Island of the Holston River\, Tennessee\, to Otter Creek of the Kentucky River. Blazing the trail presented extraordinary difficulties – the route through the wilderness was a hunter’s trace that was too narrow for a wagon.  The task was to combine many trails into one continuous route by clearing underbrush and overhanging foliage. When Daniel Boone and his men reached the Kentucky River on April 1\, 1775\, they quickly moved to establish Kentucky?s second settlement–the site still known as Fort Boonesboroughugh. \nLocation\nFort Boonesborough State Park\n4375 Boonesborough Rd.\nRichmond\, Ky. 40475 \nFor more information about Winter Trade Days at Fort Boonesboro: Phone 859-527-3131 ext 216 or email Fort Manager bill.farmer@ky.gov \n \nMark your calendar so you don’t miss the next Winter Trade Days at Fort Boonesborough at Fort Boonesboroughugh State Park in Richmond\, Kentucky in November. \nTags: Winter Trade Days at Fort Boonesboro\, Winter Trade Days\, 18th Century Market Fair\, Colonial Trade Fair \nView other Market Fair & Trade Fair Events

The Battle of Béjar Reenactment is hosted by the La Villita Merchants Association and the City’s Department of Cultural & Creative Development. \n\nBattle of Béjar Reenactment\nHours: Daily 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. \nLocation\nMaverick Plaza at La Villita\n418 Villita Street\nSan Antonio\, TX 78205 \nFor More Information\nSan Antonio Living History Asso: 210-273-1730 salivinghistoryevents@gmail.com \nThe Battle of Béjar Reenactment Unfolds . . .\nAs shoppers drift between art galleries and cafés in downtown’s La Villita\, men dressed in hats and coats from the 19th century will hide behind walls and pillars\, staring down their rifles at others dressed as soldiers in the Mexican army. Shouts and booms from gunpowder and cannon fire will fill the air as members of the San Antonio Living History Association re-enact the Battle of Bejar\, the final days of an 1835 siege by Texian rebels against Mexican forces in what was once La Villa de Bexar\, an alternate spelling. The re-enactment is one of several put on each year by the association\, whose members stage events around Texas commemorating the significant events of the Texas Revolution. \nBattle of Béjar Reenactment Mini Gallery\n\n \nThe re-enactors stage the surrender of Cos and one of his officers on La Villita’s central plaza. After a cease-fire ends the volleys coming from both sides\, a re-enactor playing Cos agrees to a parley with another playing Edward Burleson. \nReenactors visit with the public and try and explain different things about history\, not to slant it to one side or the other. The combatants from both sides fought with honorable intention. The Mexicans were defending the homeland. The Texian Federalist Army basically wanted to rule ourselves. \nAbout the Battle of Béjar\nThe battle began on Dec. 5\, 1835\, when Texian leaders launched a surprise attack on the Mexicans. They fought for five days\, and the battle ended with the surrender of Mexican General Martín Cos\, who returned to the interior of Mexico with some of his surviving troops. This was the impetus that initiated [Antonio Lopez de] Santa Ana to start his march on San Antonio to get here in late February. It starts that whole scene of the Texas Revolution.” \nThe Battle of Béjar was literally house-to-house fighting. They were actually digging through walls\, going into the next house and dropping down through ceilings. It was hand-to-hand. Probably the most brutal combat besides the Alamo. The re-enactors put painstaking effort into their research of period dress and their efforts to simulate the battles. Members come from all over Texas and neighboring states to re-enact events at historic places in San Antonio\, San Jacinto\, and Goliad. \nThough most people remember the Battle of the Alamo as the only important battle in the Texas Revolution\, the Battle of Bejar was a point of escalation in the war for Texas independence when the Texans ran the Mexicans out of the Alamo before the Mexicans ran the Texans out. \n \nMark your calendar today so you don’t miss the next Battle of Béjar Reenactment (aka Capitulation of General Cos) on the 1st Saturday in December each year at La Villita in San Antonio\, Texas. \nTags: Battle of Béjar Reenactment\, Siege of Bejar Reenactment\, Capitulation of General Cos\, Bejar Battle Reenactment\, Texas Revolution\, Texas Revolution Reenactment\, Texas Revolution Living History \nView Other Texas Revolution Events\nView Other Living History Events

The Battle of Great Bridge Reenactment features re-enactments of two pivotal Revolutionary War battles: the Battle at Kemps Landing and the Battle of Great Bridge. Eventually\, it was moved to Great Bridge Battlefield Park South on Battlefield Boulevard\, the original site of the historic battle. \nBattle of Great Bridge Reenactment Mini-Gallery\n\n \nReenactors and historical interpreters who have regularly participated in the battle event have created an increased local interest in the battle that has generated enthusiasm for the creation of the Great Bridge Battlefield & Waterways history museum that is scheduled to open its doors by December 2018. \nWhat was once considered a mere footnote skirmish in the annals of America’s War for Independence is now regarded as a pivotal battle during the early days of the conflict. It’s known as “the Southern Bunker Hill” but this time on Dec. 9\, 1775\, at a berm known as Great Bridge\, just a musket ball shot from next weekend’s event\, the Patriots defeated an army of professional British soldiers and Tory militia. It opened southern supply routes and allowed the important Norfolk harbor to fall in Continental hands. \n \nFREE to the Public\nHours:: Saturday & Sunday 10 am to 4 pm \nConcessions: available for sale on both days. \nFor More Information:\nAngela J. Located in Goliad\, or\, more accurately before 1829\, La Bahía\, lay on the important route from the Gulf of Mexico to San Antonio de Béxar. The presidio served as the customs house for Copano (El Cópano)\, established on Aransas Bay about the same time as San Antonio\, served as the principal port of entry. These three points were the key to control of South Texas. La Bahía had immense strategic importance\, since it guarded the supply line from the coast to the principal city. This new municipality owed its importance to the port of Copano\, forty miles distant\, which had begun to compete with Matamoros for the lucrative Mexican interior trade\, for which the new town of Goliad supplied expert smugglers\, as well as oxcarts and drivers who provided transportation between markets and port. \nAbout the Texas Association of Buckskinners\nTexas Association of Buckskinners is a friendly group that encourages period correct equipment and skills\, while helping new pilgrims get more involved in the hobby. The Texas Association of Buckskinners (TAB) began in the late 1970s when three friends who were interested in survivalism decided to put together a group to focus on survival skills based on the Mountain Men of the Western Fur Trade. After several decades\, it is one of the oldest buckskinning groups in Texas and is still going strong\, with events held the last weekend of January (Deep Winter)\, the third weekend in April (Spring) and the last weekend in October (Fall). New members are always welcome. \n \nMark your calendar today so you won’t miss the next Presidio La Bahia Christmas Rendezvous and Trade Fair on the first weekend of December at the Presidio La Bahia in Goliad\, Texas. \nTags: Christmas at the Presidio La Bahia Rendezvous\, Presidio La Bahia\, Texas Association of Buckskinners\, Texas Revolution Events\, Texas Rendezvous\, Texas Mountain Man Rendezvous\, Market Trade Fair \nView Other Texas Revolution Events\nView other Texas Rendezvous\nView other Market Fair & Trade Fair Events

It also stood witness to Washington’s crucial victory at the Battle of Trenton. At the beginning of the 20th century\, members of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Colonial Dames organized The Old Barracks Association and spearheaded a campaign to purchase the building. The building has been a museum for over a century\, and has frequently been used as a symbol for the state of New Jersey. The Old Barracks Museum welcomes visitors from across the state as well as around the world. \nABOUT HM 17TH REGIMENT OF INFANTRY: \nThe recreated HM 17th Regiment of Infantry was established in 2002 with the mission to provide for its members and the public the experiences of the common British soldier throughout the American Revolution\, specifically at historic sites from the Hudson River Valley to Virginia. The group works as a collective to research\, recreate historically accurate uniforms and equipment\, and provide living history displays to vividly teach and engage the public with history. The recreated 17th strives for meaningful\, research-based public interpretation of the perspectives of the British soldier\, and engage with broader questions of what it meant to be “British” and “American” nearly 250 years ago. \n \nMark your calendar today so you don’t miss the next British Occupation Day on the first Saturday in December at the Old Barracks in Trenton\, New Jersey. \nTags: British Occupation Day\, British Occupation of the Old Barracks\, Revolutionary War Reenactment \nView other Revolutionary War Reenactments & Other Events

As the army arrived in central Florida on Christmas Day\, 1837\, the stockade was aptly christened Fort Christmas. Fort Christmas is a typical Seminole Indian War fort\, made of tall pine pickets. The fort is 80 linear square feet\, with two block houses that are 20 square feet each\, with a storehouse and a powder magazine within the walls of the fort. The replica of Fort Christmas serves as a museum with exhibits focusing on the Second Seminole War and pioneer life in Florida. Today\, the replica fort and museum is the centerpiece of Fort Christmas Historical Park. \nFort Christmas Cracker Christmas Mini-Gallery\n[/fusion_gallery] \nIn addition to the park’s full scale replica of the 19th century fort\, seven restored cracker era buildings are open for tours. Re-enactor participation varies by weekend and weather conditions. \nYear Round\nOn the third weekend (Saturday and Sunday) of each of month\, Fort Taylor Living History Weekend offers you the opportunity to experience life in the fort as it was during the Civil War. \nLocation\nFort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park\n601 Howard England Way\nKey West\, FL 33040 \nMore Information: Kevin Bowes\, kevin.bowes@dep.state.fl.us (305) 292-6850 \nThe park is open from 8:00 a.m. until sundown\, 365 days a year. The fort closes at 5:00 p.m. \nAdmission Fees:\n$6.00* per vehicle. Limit 2-8 people per vehicle.\n$2.00* Pedestrians\, bicyclists\, extra passengers\, passengers in vehicle with holder of Annual Individual Entrance Pass.\n$4.00* Single-occupant vehicle or motorcycle.\n* Plus $.50 per person Monroe County Surcharge. \nHistory of Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park\nSpanish explorers first surveyed the island of Key West in 1513. After the Florida territory was transferred to the U.S.\, the Navy established a small depot here in 1822 to rid the area of pirates. Fishing\, salvaging wrecked ships and cigar manufacturing became the driving economic forces behind the island’s growth making Key West the richest city in Florida in the 1890s. The U.S. Army began construction of Fort Taylor\, named for President Zachary Taylor\, in 1845. With secession and the beginning of war in 1861\, Fort Taylor remained under federal control — one of only three fortresses in Florida to do so — and served as the headquarters for the Federal Navy’s East Gulf Coast Blockading Squadron staying on ‘active duty’ status through 1947. Today\, the fort is a National Historic Landmark containing the largest cache of Civil War-era seacoast cannons in the U.S. \nCannon and Arches\nUnion troops took control of Fort Zachary Taylor early in the Civil War and maintained it through the duration of the war. They made use of the fort’s impressive artillery\, including 10-inch Rodman and Columbiad cannons to detain blockade-running ships seeking to supply the Confederacy. In 1968\, a large supply of Civil War-era guns and ammunition were discovered in the Fort’s buried arsenal. In fact\, Fort Zachary Taylor held the largest collection of Civil War-era cannons in the United States. \nFort Moat\nSoon after the park opened to the public\, a contractor began the process of digging a moat around the fortress. There were two reasons for the project. One was to prevent easy entry into the structure. The other was to give the illusion of the fort in its early days\, surrounded by water. The end result was an attractive division between the fort and the beach and sea beyond. \nMark your calendar today so you don’t miss the next Fort Taylor Living History Weekend on the third Saturday and Sunday of each month at Historic Fort Taylor in Key West\, Florida. \nTags: Fort Taylor Living History Weekend\, Fort Zachary Taylor Living History Weekend\, Ft Taylor Living History Weekend \nView other Civil War Reenactments & Other Events

On-going displays of camp life and historic cooking will be offered\, as well as musket and cannon firing demonstrations. \nYou’re invited to see how the soldiers celebrated the holidays at Fort Dobbs. The Fort Dobbs Winter on the Western Frontier program is free; seasonal refreshments\, including hot apple cider\, will be offered. Through the day\, a dozen historic interpreters at the garrison have scheduled musket- and cannon-firing demonstrations\, plus demonstrations of open-fire cooking. \nFort Dobbs Winter on the Western Frontier Mini-Gallery\n\n \nHosted by: Fort Dobbs State Historic Site and NC Department of Natural & Cultural Resources \nAdmission: Free ($2.00 donation suggested.) \nHours: Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 a.m. \nReenactors: Re-enactor participation is by invitation only. Chipley Ford Road\, then turn right onto Fort Dobbs Road. \nFor More Information: Call 704-873-5882; Email: info@fortdobbs.org \nHistory of Fort Dobbs\nFort Dobbs was the only permanent frontier provincial fort in the colony of North Carolina. Construction began in late 1755 and was completed one year later. It served as the military headquarters for the frontier company (approximately fifty men) as well as a safe-haven for settlers. The fort was attacked on the night of February 27\, 1760 when more than 70 Cherokees were repelled. The garrison suffered two men wounded\, as well as having one colonial boy killed. The Cherokee were reported to have lost 10-12 men killed and wounded. By the end of 1761\, the British had essentially won the war and only thirty troops remained at the fort. Colonial leaders disbanded the troops and removed all the supplies of the garrison as settlement moved far west of the fort. The neglected fort was in ruins by 1766. \nReconstruction of Fort Dobbs\nSoon after protecting the site of Fort Dobbs in 1909\, the Daughters of the American Revolution recognized the need to reconstruct the blockhouse. Following initial archaeological investigations in the 1960’s and ’70’s the site became a State Historic Site\, but with several key questions about the original structure still unanswered\, no immediate reconstruction effort was planned.[su_accordion][su_spoiler title=”Read More”]\nIn 2003\, the reincorporated non-profit Friends of Fort Dobbs took up the vision of then-site manager Beth Hill to begin an effort to rebuild. More than a decade of hard work ensued. The Friends undertook a fundraising campaign to fund the effort and co-operated with State officials\, historians\, historic building specialists\, architects\, and noted archaeologist Dr. Larry Babits to develop feasible\, historically sound plans and the capital needed to make Fort Dobbs stand on the banks of Fourth Creek once again. \nFollowing several other facility improvements to the site\, ground was broken for the new fort in August of 2016. A mix of modern and 18th Century construction techniques have been employed to meet the challenge of building a structure that must simultaneously meet modern building standards while also approximating an entirely hand-build piece of military engineering from 260 years ago. We hope\, with your support\, to have Fort Dobbs open as a living history exhibit on a grand scale by early 2019![/su_spoiler][/su_accordion] \n \nMark your calendar today so you don’t miss the next Fort Dobbs Winter on the Western Frontier in December at the Fort Dobbs State Historic Site in Statesville\, North Carolina. \nTags: Fort Dobbs Winter on the Western Frontier\, French & Indian War Reenactment \nView other French & Indian War Reenactments\, Musters and Other Events

Join fellow citizens from around the country for a Bucks County tradition featuring several hundred reenactors clad in Continental military dress and George Washington himself. A reenactor dressed as General Washington kicks off the event with an inspiring speech to his men – a group of 250 to 300 reenactors dressed in Continental Army uniforms before the group huddles inside a full-size replica Durham boat and makes the journey across the river. \n\nWashington Christmas Day Crossing Reenactment\nGeorge Washington’s daring 1776 Christmas Day crossing of the Delaware River and defeat of the Hessians in Trenton is considered a turning point in the Revolutionary War. Witness this historic event for yourself during one of two reenactments in December. \nIMPORTANT NOTE: Information is provided for both the rehearsal (second Sunday of December) and the official Christmas Day crossing. Participants need to participate in the rehearsal so they will know where to be and what to do. Visitors may choose to watch the dress rehearsal if they cannot make it on Christmas Day. \nFIRST CROSSING: Second Sunday of December\nTIME: 10:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M. (actual crossing at 1:00 P.M.)\nCOST: $8.00 for adults\, $4.00 for children age five to 11\, and free for those under five (Proceeds support future park programs) \nLocation: \nWashington Crossing Historic Park\n1112 River Road\nWashington Crossing\, PA 18977 \nFor More Information:\nFriends of Washington Crossing Park: Call (215) 493-4076; Email info@washingtoncrossingpark.org \nDuring the Washington Crossing Reenactment Dress Rehearsal\, hundreds of troops row across the river in uniform just as they do for the ‘official’ event on Christmas Day. In addition\, special colonial-era activities and demonstrations throughout the historic village provide your family with a full day of fun and learning. The Washington Crossing Reenactment Dress Rehearsal is a great way to see the reenactment if you can’t make it on December 25! \nReenactor Information\nReenactors wishing to participate in the Crossing reenactments scheduled for December 11 or December 25 must complete the reenactor registration form: http://drg.io/2atFlAX \nAll reenactors under the age of 18 must complete this registration form AND have a parent or guardian sign and return a separate juvenile release form located at the bottom of the registration form. \nREENACTOR REGISTRATION FORM \nCHRISTMAS DAY CROSSING: December 25\nSponsor: Friends of Washington Crossing Park\nTime: 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM\nPrice: Free to Attend \nWashington Christmas Day Crossing Reenactment Gallery\n\n \nThe Washington Christmas Day Crossing Reenactment has been a tradition for generations. River crossings are contingent upon safe conditions for participants. However\, even if conditions do not allow for crossing\, ceremonies\, speeches and commemorative activities still occur. We suggest visitors arrive before 1:00 P.M. on Christmas Day to ensure a good place along the viewing line. \nOrigins of the Crossing Event\nWhile the annual crossing has been popular for decades\, it had difficulty in its early origins. The first few attempts at a commemoration Crossing in 1838 and then again in 1876 lead to rowdiness among the reenactors and the event was not repeated again for nearly 100 years. In 1947\, a fraternity promoted a non-hazing initiation by reenacting the famous trip across the Delaware\, sparking new interest in holding an annual Crossing. When National Geographic Magazine featured a story about the Crossing in 1952 complete with photos\, the modern tradition was born. \nAbout Washington Crossing Historic Park (Pennsylvania side)\nWashington Crossing Historic Park is located at the intersection of Routes 532 and 32 (River Road) in Washington Crossing\, Pennsylvania. The Temple is across the street from the Old Barracks and sits on ground where the Battle of Trenton was fought. As the home of Freemasons\, emphasis was made to give the neo-classical design Temple an impressive and solid appearance\, using stone wherever possible. The Temple was the first building in Trenton to be clad in Indiana limestone. The first floor was designed to have a grand parlor\, a library\, and a game room\, providing an elegant setting for the Colonial Ball at Historic Trenton Masonic Temple. \nAbout the Old Barracks Museum\nThe Old Barracks Museum preserves the history of a building that was built as a French and Indian War military barracks and used as a Revolutionary War military hospital. It stood witness to Washington’s crucial victory at the Battle of Trenton. In 1903\, members of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Colonial Dames organized The Old Barracks Association and spearheaded a campaign to fund a major restoration\, in partnership with the State of New Jersey. The building has been used as a museum for over a century\, and has frequently been used as a symbol for the state of New Jersey. The Old Barracks Museum welcomes visitors from across the state as well as around the world. \n \nMark your calendar today so you don’t miss the next Colonial Ball at Historic Trenton Masonic Temple on the Friday after Christmas\, in Trenton\, New Jersey. \nTags: Colonial Ball at Historic Trenton Masonic Temple\, Colonial Ball\, Old Barracks Museum\, Trenton’s Patriots Week Celebration\, Old Barracks Association\, Revolutionary War Reenactment \nView other Revolutionary War Reenactments & Other Events

The Omaka Teca Wacipi New Years Eve Sobriety Powwow is a family-friendly event\, so don’t leave anyone at home! \nAdmission & Schedule\nAdmission: Free\n1:00 PM Grand Entry\n7:00 PM Grand Entry \nHead Staff\nNorthern Host Drum: To Be Announced\nSouthern Host Drum: To Be Announced\nArena Director: To Be Announced\nMaster of Ceremonies: To Be Announced\nCo-MC: To Be Announced\nHead Man: To Be Announced\nHead Woman: To Be Announced \n \nFamily/Program Specials\nOld Style Fancy Shawl: $100 Winner take all\, 2 songs\nOld Style Grass: $100 Winner take all\, 2 songs\nTwo-Step Special: 1st $50 2nd $30 3rd $20\nSacred Horse Society Jr Boys Traditional Special: 1st $100 2nd $75 3rd $25\nWoman’s Traditional Special: 1st $150 2nd $100 3rd $50\nGrass Dance Special: 1st $250.00 2nd $150 3rd $100\nTiny tot special\nGirls 13-18 All Categories: 1st $100 2nd $75 3rd $50\nLocation\nWest High School Gym\n2001 Casselman Street\nSioux City\, IA 51103 \nContact\nJames Hallum jhallum@thenicc.edu 402-241-5938; Cell 402-961-0085\nMinerva Valenzuela 605-464-4882; Vanessa Hamilton 402-241-5921 \nMark your calendar today so you don’t miss this year’s Omaka Teca Wacipi New Years Eve Sobriety Powwow on December 31 at West High School Gym in Sioux City\, Iowa.
