The MSU Pow Wow at Western Oregon University is put on by the Multicultural Student Union. Both students and community members are welcome to attend this and it is completely free and open to all ages. The MSU Pow Wow features beautiful traditional dances by a variety of tribes as well as dance competitions and live music. \nThe MSU Pow Wow at Western Oregon University is our opportunity to educate not only Western Oregon University\, but also the surrounding communities\, about a piece of Native American culture and tradition. The Native American Pow-Wow will be held on Saturday from 12 pm to 12 am. Anybody can come and go as they please. The event will be held in the Pacific Room\, Werner University Center. The first Grand Entry will take place at 12:00 noon. There will be a free dinner break from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The second Grand Entry will be at 7:00 p.m. and the event will conclude at 12:00 midnight. \nThis year’s Pow-Wow will feature a number of drummers\, dancers\, and vendors from throughout the Pacific Northwest. The first weekend of May every year\, the whole town of Jefferson\, Texas is transported back to that time when the Civil War was coming to a close. For many years\, the Marion County Chamber of Commerce hosted the Battle of Port Jefferson\, a Civil War Reenactment\, possibly the largest in the state of Texas. This year\, the Chamber is supporting Target Jefferson Texas\, a Red River Campaign Objective\, in conjunction with the Great Locomotive Chase held by the Historic Jefferson Railway. Fort Connah was a Hudson’s Bay Trading Post established in 1846. One of the three original buildings still remains and is believed to be the oldest standing building in Montana. The 42nd Ohio Civil War Show in conjunction with the 27th Artillery Show also includes WWI and WWII. Stop in and enjoy over 750 tables of memorabilia\, outstanding displays\, outdoor encampments\, Abe Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address\, period music and much more! The Ohio Civil War Show and Artillery Show is definitely one not to miss! \n\nOhio Civil War Show and Artillery Show\nThere will be about 380 exhibitors from 38 states participating in Ohio’s only show if this kind. It is expected to include 750 tables of military memorabilia — from 1775 through 1945 — for visitors who want to buy\, sell\, trade and display items. The show is the largest of its kind in the country. In addition\, related items such as books\, images\, photographs\, paper goods\, Civil War prints and some women’s apparel will be available to the public and collectors. \nIn conjunction with the Ohio Civil War show\, the annual Artillery Show will feature full-size cannons\, limbers\, cassion\, Gatling guns and mortars. This\, also is the only artillery show of this kind in the country. Visitors can view field guns\, equipment and displays that relate to America’s wars from 1775 through 1945. \nAs an added feature\, visitors have a rare opportunity to see cannon-firing demonstrations Saturday and Sunday. This years show will feature a 1776 Revolutionary War Living History Encampment by the 8th Pennsylvania Regiment. The encampment will include drills\, musket firing\, colonial period camp cooking and more. Another feature of the show will be a Civil War Field Hospital scenario with simulated limb amputations and medical practices of the Civil War.
