All are welcome at the Madd River Woodland Gathering on July 27-28, 2019 at Hall Fawcett Park in Zanesfield, Ohio. A Native American Gathering, sometimes called a Pow Wow, is a celebration of Native American heritage and traditions. It is a way for Native Americans to connect with each other while keeping their culture alive through song and dance. The Madd River Woodland Gatherings will provide an opportunities for you to learn about Native American culture and traditions.

Step back in time at the Lewisburg Bicentennial Living History Encampment on September 7-9, 2018 at Lewisburg Community Park and Lewisburg Historical Society Train Depot in Lewisburg, Ohio. Experience 18th and 19th Century life with Native American, Military and Civilian Encampments, Exhibits and Demonstrations.

The Living History Encampment features merchants and blanket traders with 18th and 19th Century crafts, clothing and wares for sale. In addition there will be many demonstrations of primitive frontier skills, Musket Firing, Cannon Firing, Blacksmithing, Broom Making, Cooking, Weaving, and many more.

2019 Feast of the Flowering Moon Festival

Join us for the annual Feast of the Flowering Moon Festival on May 23-26, 2019 at Yoctangee Park in historic downtown Chillicothe, Ohio. The Feast of the Flowering Moon Festival is a four-day event that offers plenty of family-friendly entertainment for residents and visitors to Chillicothe, Ohio. The festival features Native American music and dancing, crafters and exhibits, commercial exhibits, Mountain Men Encampment with working craftsmen and demonstration, art & craft show, continuous entertainment on the main stage, carnival rides, Queen/Princess pageant and Ross County Idol contest.

Feast of the Flowering Moon Festival

The Feast of the Flowering Moon Festival was started in 1984 by the Ross-Chillicothe Convention & Visitors Bureau as a way to help promote the city’s heritage and support “Tecumseh!” Outdoor Drama produced by The Scioto Society. In the early 1990s, festival organizers obtained their own non-profit status and has operated as an independent organization since. Although festival organizers continue to work closely and partner with both the Ross-Chillicothe Convention & Visitors Bureau and The Scioto Society.

Yoctangee Park in historic downtwn Chillicothe, Ohio hosts the annual Feast of the Flowering Moon Festival over the Memorial Day Weekend each year. Chillicothe, the first capital city, is rich in Indian history. Yoctangee Park makes a perfect setting for this family oriented event featuring Native American music, dancing, traders and exhibits, a mountain men encampment rendezvous with working craftsmen and demonstrations, an extensive arts and crafts show and commercial exhibits. Entertainment is continuous on the main stage with good food, fun, games and contests for the whole family to enjoy. This is an educational experience for the entire family.

2018 Thunderbase Pow Wow

Join us for the 2018 Thunderbase Pow Wow on May 5-6, 2018 at the Ross County Fairgrounds in Chillicothe Ohio. This pow wow is in conjunction with a Boy Scout Camporall with 3000-5000 in attendance. The purpose is to educate all in attendance to the pow wow about 3 goals: 1) Educate all about the Native American culture; 2) Cancer awareness; 3) Have a good time and enjoy the coming spring.

15 years ago the people of Lancaster, Ohio approached the Honoring Traditions Event Committee about the possibility of putting on a Native American event. After over a year of planning, the first “Honoring Traditions Eastern Woodland Native American Celebration” was born. Each year the event has grown in size from Vendors, to Native American drums and especially dancers. Join us to four our 10th Annual Lima Honoring our Native American Heritage Powwow on February 16-17, 2019 at the Allen County Fairgrounds in Lima, Ohio. Experience and learn about Honoring our Native American Heritage. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the Lima Honoring our Native American Heritage Powwow, the live native dancing, drums and singing. 2018 Sidney Honoring our Veterans Powwow

All are invited to the 7th Annual Sidney Honoring our Veterans Powwow on August 18-19, 2018 at the Shelby County Fairgrounds in Sidney, Ohio where we gather each year in honor of our Veterans and First Responders. This is a family-friendly event and there will be activities, such as singers and dancers, at the Shelby County Fairgrounds. The gates will open Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and close at 6:30 p.m. The gates will open Sunday at 10:00 a.m. and close at 5:30 p.m. Admission and parking are free to the public, and please bring your own lawn chairs.

Sidney Honoring our Veterans Powwow

Apache, Cherokee, Shawnee, Woodland and various other tribes will be traveling from across the U.S. to dance, sing, play music, socialize and camp for the weekend.

On both days, the grand entrance will commence with a representative entering the roped-off circle carrying the Eagle Staff, followed by the American flag, POW/MIA flag, and any veterans’ flags — in that order. Once the flags are brought in, veterans and first responders will be invited into the circle to be honored and personally thanked by all attendees present. After the honoring ceremony, anyone interested will be invited into the circle to dance and celebrate with the dancers.

People are welcome to stay as long as they want after closing time as long as they abide by the rules. The Sidney Honoring our Veterans Powwow Committee suggests bringing a lawn chair.

Camping is free for participants and vendors ($10 for weekend electric) also a meal on Saturday late afternoon. Night time lighting for late dancing. Have flushable toilets and showers.

About the Sidney Honoring our Veterans Powwow
It was the Native American artifact collection of the late Vietnam Veteran Martin “Tallhorse” Chambers” that originally began as an exhibit loaned to the Shelby County Historical Society during Sidney’s former Apple Festival. This eventually transformed into the annual Sidney Honoring our Veterans Powwow of an expected 350 participating Native Americans this year. Unfortunately, the veteran that started this event never got to see it become such a success as he died before the first one.

2019 Woodland Indian Celebration

Come enjoy the 17th Annual Woodland Indian Celebration on September 27-29, 2019 at Seven Eagles Historical Education Center in Grand Rapids, Ohio (temporary location due to grounds damage). This event is the Premier Native American Event in the State of Ohio and the Region. Don’t miss your chance to be a part of the beautiful Harvest Festival of the Eastern Woodland American Indians of the North East and Great Lakes. Enjoy and participate in Native American Arts, Crafts, Dance, Food, Games, History, Music, and more!

Woodland Indian Celebration

The Woodland Indian Celebration has been listed as one of the Top 20 Great Escapes: Weekends Worth Having in the State of Ohio by the Cincinnati Magazine and has been listed a State of Ohio Top Event by The Ohio Arts Council, The Ohio Humanities Council and The Toledo Blade.

Admission:
Adults = $5.00
Seniors 60 and over = $3.00
Children 5-11 = $2.00
Children 4 and under = Free

TIMES: Gates Open @ 10:00 a.m. Saturday & 10:00 a.m. Sunday
Closes Saturday at Dusk & Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
