Join us for the 16th Annual Hunters Widows Rendezvous on September 13-15, 2019 at Fort Lupton Historic Site in Fort Lupton, Colorado. The Hunters Widows Rendezvous is hosted by the Tallow River Trapper, and is held on the weekend after the Trapper Days Rendezvous at Fort Lupton. It is an event for women and children of men who have gone hunting. Early Set-up is during camp dates of Trapper Days Rendezvous. Men in dresses are welcome (Kilts do NOT count)!<\/p>\n

Camp fee:<\/strong> $25.00 per adult, $15.00 per Teen (13-16), under 13 by donation. Modern Camps welcome \u2013 no hook-ups.<\/p>\n

Day fee:<\/strong> $15.00 per adult, $10.00 per Teen, under 13 by donation (Additional cost for Raffle, Medallions and Contests)<\/p>\n

Traders Fee:<\/strong> Free<\/p>\n

Prizes:<\/strong> We are requesting period appropriate donations for the prize tent.<\/p>\n

Raffle:<\/strong> The raffle is a always popular; we have had some great raffle items. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20 and will be available throughout the Rendezvous season!<\/p>\n

Cocktail Party & Gift Exchange:<\/strong> Friday 7:30 p.m. Prize for best cocktail concoction. Bring your favorite cocktails and cordials to share and a wrapped gift ($10 value). Kids gift exchange first (gender neutral gifts please) followed by the ladies’ gift exchange.<\/p>\n

Girly Camp Review:<\/strong> Saturday 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Prizes for best theme (theme TBA). Best traditional\/primitive camp, annual Amy Spry Award (Wseet & Simple Camp). Submit your votes by 4:00 p.m. Ballot forms at Registration.<\/p>\n

Light Luncheon, Costume & Dessert Contest:<\/strong> Saturday 12:00 p.m. – 2 p.m. Theme to be announced. Please participate! Helping with decorating, water retrieval, dishes, hooter decorating & organizing or cooking meals is fun! Period clothing is requested. Pets on leashes. Desserts can be made at home.<\/p>\n

About South Platte Valley Historic Park<\/strong>
\nHistoric Fort Lupton (aka Fort Lancaster) and South Platte Valley Settlement Historic Park encompasses 97 acres of land along the South Platte River just northwest of the city of Fort Lupton, Colorado. The land consists of a large natural and camping area immediately along the river and a high bench of land where the original Fort Lancaster was located.[su_accordion][su_spoiler title=”Read More”]\nAlong the river, in groves of cottonwood trees are camping areas that can be used by Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops with reservations. These camping areas are also used by the re-enactment department of the SPVHS – the Tallow River Trappers – to hold periodic rendezvous events. Immediately along the river are nature areas that are home to deer, turkey, foxes and other animals and birds. At the north end of the historic park is a muzzleloading shooting range leased by the Fort Lupton Muzzleloading Club.<\/p>\n

Start your tour of the historic park at the re-creation of Fort Lancaster, which was in operation from 1836 to 1844. Move down the path and see the restored trapper cabin from the 1850s, which was originally located down along the Platte River in Adams County. Moving further down the path, your will see both the Independence School built in 1875 and the Donelson homestead house built in the 1860s. The Donelson House and the Independence School represent the settlement of the Platte Valley started by the early fur trappers and traders.[\/su_spoiler][\/su_accordion]<\/p>\n

Tallow River Trapper has their own campsite below Fort Lancaster in Fort Lupton, Colorado. They have 6 rondy’s a year and welcome all. The Tallow River Trappers is the living history branch of the South Platte Valley Historical Society. Although the TRT supports and coordinates its activities with the South Platte Valley Historical Society, the organization has its own officers, funding and newsletter, the “Dispatch”.[su_accordion][su_spoiler title=”Read More”]\nThe lower portion of the South Platte Valley Historic Park, along the South Platte River, is dedicated to rendezvous and primitive camping. This area is partially wooded. Water is available on site, as is limited firewood and “Hooters.” In order to protect the grounds for future users, above-ground fire pits are required for campfires. An area is designated for “tin tipis” for those not wishing to go primitive.<\/p>\n

The purpose of each rendezvous held at the South Platte Valley Historic Park is to recreate the look and feel of the late fur trade era, rather than to recreate a specific event. The Tallow River Trappers in conjunction with the South Platte Valley Historical Society holds three major rendezvous through out the year.. The Frozen Toes Rendezvous is the first rendezvous of the year and is held the last weekend in February. The Lancaster Restoration Rendezvous is held Memorial Day Weekend. Finally, the Trapper Days Rendezvous held on the weekend following Labor Day coincides with the town of Fort Lupton’s Trapper Days Celebration. Day time activities at these events include shooting, tomahawk and knife throwing on the range, a woods walk, and fire starting contests add to the fun of the rendezvous.[\/su_spoiler][\/su_accordion]<\/p>\n
