All are welcome at the 10th Annual Red River Intertribal Club Benefit Powwow on March 24, 2018 at the Stone Palace Ballroom in Wichita Falls, Texas. Experience the sights and sounds of the Red River Intertribal Club Benefit Powwow, including Native dancing, singing, food, arts and crafts, jewelry and more. NOTE: Club has closed and this powwow will no longer be held.<\/strong><\/span> Food and craft vendors will be available. This is a family friendly event, the public is welcome and admission is free. There is limited seating, so bring your own chairs.<\/p>\n

Red River Intertribal Club Benefit Powwow<\/h4>\n

The Red River Intertribal Club is made up of people from all different tribes. The powwow is a benefit for the Children’s Aid Society. Admission is free to attend the powwow, but the club sells programs and raffle tickets to raise money.<\/p>\n

Gourd dancing will be featured from 2-5 p.m. and 6-7 p.m. After dinner from 5-6 p.m., the grand entry begins at 7 p.m. The Master of ceremonies will oversee the grand entry. The dinner is free to anyone who wishes to take part in the powwow. Donations are not accepted for the dinner. Families volunteer to cook the meal. It’s a part of the culture, giving the gift of the meal so that other people can enjoy it.<\/p>\n

The Grand Entry that begins at 7:00pm is the best time for spectators to see dancers dressed in their feathers and other Indian clothes. After the grand entry, participants will be doing intertribal dances; anyone who wishes to dance can come out can take part.<\/p>\n

The club tries to maintain a traditional powwow, which is why they have been successful, so far. A powwow, they said, is a dance and a get-together in which people can see friends and family. It’s also a great opportunity to share their heritage with community members and help community groups like Patsy’s House.<\/p>\n
