Join us for the 7th Annual Edmonton House Brigade Skills of the Fur Trade Challenge on May 27\u201328, 2017 at the Sherwood Park Fish and Game Association near Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Take part in the muzzleloading, knife and hawk, and primitive bow challenges, and the 1805 Canadian Fur Trade Camp. Saturday evening supper with all the fixings will be provided for all registered shooters and paid non shooters. Please bring your own plates, cutlery and mug wipers. (napkins for those more sophisticated folk). Everyone is welcome! Period dress highly recommended, yet not required. Please bring your own water. Firewood will be provided.<\/p>\n

Location \/ Directions<\/strong>
\nThe Edmonton House Brigade Skills of the Fur Trade Challenge shoot will be held on the Sherwood Park Fish & Game Range. For directions check the Sherwood Park Fish & Game \u00a0website<\/a><\/p>\n

Challenges<\/strong>
\n1. Muzzle loading Rifle [patched round ball open sights only]\n2. Muzzle loading Trade Gun [patched round ball, smoothbore flintlock, no rear sight]\n3. Junior muzzle loading rifle [16 years and younger, patched round ball open sights].
\n4. Muzzle loading Pistol or cap and ball revolver.
\n5. Knife and Tomahawk
\n6. Primitive Bow
\n7. Reenactment of an 1805 Canadian fur trade camp.<\/p>\n

Prizes & Awards<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes for events 1 to 5.
\n\u2022 A prize for the best 1805 Canadian fur trade camp and Primitive Bow.
\n\u2022 Random draw cash prizes from $20 to $100.<\/p>\n

Entry Fee<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Edmonton House Brigade Skills of the Fur Trade Challenge Entry fees will be $35.00 Adult and $20.00 Junior (16 years or younger)
\n\u2022 Blanket prizes will not be required.
\n\u2022 Non-registered shooters will not be permitted to shoot during the event.<\/p>\n

Liability Insurance<\/strong>
\n\u2022 All shooters are welcome to this shoot.
\n\u2022 All shooters (including Juniors) must have their own liability insurance.
\n\u2022 Starting in 2017, all competitors must be a member of one of the following associations:
\no Alberta Fish & Game Association or affiliated clubs.
\no National Firearms Association or affiliated clubs.
\n\u2022 These associations have liability insurance for their members.
\n\u2022 Membership cards must be presented and will be checked. Someone will be appointed as an “insurance cop”.
\n\u2022 Coming to the shoot without a muzzle loading firearm or proof of insurance (membership) will result in the same outcome: You will not be shooting.<\/p>\n

Fire prevention \/ 5 second patch lube test<\/strong>
\nA small propane torch (the type used to solder copper pipe) is needed for this test. Lube a patch & hold it at the tip of the flame for 5 seconds. If the patch does not start to smolder, this patch\/lube combo can be used on trail walk. Check your patch \/ lube before coming to our shoot. We will be testing.<\/p>\n

\nOther Edmonton House Brigade Skills of the Fur Trade Challenge Info:<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Safety & Shoot rule talk starts at 9 AM on both Saturday & Sunday. The shoot starts right after.
\n\u2022 Closing ceremony starts about 2 PM Sunday.
\n\u2022 Primitive camping will be located behind the clubhouse. Vehicles must be moved outside of camping area once setup is completed.
\n\u2022 Period dress highly recommended, yet not required.
\n\u2022 Tin Tee-Pee camping will be located on the shot gun range & in front of the clubhouse.
\n\u2022 Campsite will be open from noon May 25, till 9 am on May 29.
\n\u2022 Traders welcome.
