Chisholm Park in Narcoossee, Florida. The annual recreation of a Civil War battle, The Battle of Narcoossee Mill is a great family activity that is both educational and entertaining. Visitors can roam through Civil War era camps, talk with Union and Confederate reenactors, watch the mounted cavalry of days past, and relive the battle reenactment from the American Civil War. If you are in the Saint Cloud Florida area the fourth weekend of March, be sure to stop by and enjoy history on a 50 acre stage.<\/p>\n<p>[su_accordion][su_spoiler title=&#8221;More about the event history&#8221;]\nDuring the Civil War, this area played a unique role in aiding the Confederate Army in the South, not as a battlefield, but as a large supplier of beef for the Confederacy and the army. There was an actual unit called the Cattle Guard back then, and it played a major role in the war. The role that Florida&#8217;s Osceola County could have played in the Civil War is what will come to life when two armies fight during the Annual Battle at Narcoossee Mill Reenactment in Osceola County\u2019s Ralph V. Chisholm Park in Narcoossee.<\/p>\n<p>This event is organized by the Jacob Summerlin Camp, named for the cattle baron who helped grow so much of the Central Florida economy in the 1800s. The Jacob Summerlin Camp, a chapter of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, is a civic group formed in Osceola County in 1991. The Battle at Narcoossee Mill Reenactment raises funds for the camp\u2019s charitable work, including scholarships, veteran monuments, grave markers, cemetery maintenance, and a Christmas charity program.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not a reenactment of a historic battle, but rather a depiction of how a conflict may have occurred during the war for Southern Independence on land that would become Osceola County after the war. These individuals were pursuing the dual and, what they believed to be, honorable causes of defending and maintaining the sovereignties of the State of Florida and the Confederate States of America. Although the Traveling Florida Confederate Memorial Wall contains only the names of those who served honorably and died during the period 1861-1865, the initiative endeavors to pay homage to all of the aforementioned personnel. Therefore, the primary goal of this nonpolitical undertaking is to provide an educational and sacred tribute to these men.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reenactors Information<\/strong><br \/>\nRegistration Fee: $7.00 Per Person Charge for All Re-Enactors, due upon arrival.
