Join us for the 2nd Annual South of the River Powwow on May 18, 2019 at Burnsville High School in Burnsville, Minnesota to celebrate the community\u2019s graduating American Indian students. Burnsville – Eagan -Savage School District 191 will join with other south metro school districts to host the event and celebrate the community\u2019s graduating American Indian students. The South of the River Powwow is open to the public. Attendees will experience a day of dance, food, and fellowship from a Native perspective. Doors open at 11 a.m. The schedule will include first grand entry at 1:00 p.m., free feast at 5:00 p.m., second grand entry at 7:00 p.m., with the powwow concluding at 9:00 p.m. Interested persons can also follow the Powwow on Twitter at @SOTRpowwow.<\/p>\n

The South of the River Powwow is being organized by the South Metro American Indian Liaison Committee (SMAILC), which includes District 191, Lakeville, Shakopee, Prior Lake-Savage, Farmington, and District 196 school districts along with the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community.<\/p>\n

Organizers are still seeking sponsors, craft and informational vendors, volunteers, dancers (all styles and all ages) to participate.<\/p>\n
