Don’t miss the 1st Annual Silver Springs PowWow on November 17-18, 2018 in Silver Springs State Park in Ocala, Florida. The Oklevueha Band of Yamassees Indians have Partnered with Silver Springs State Park to host this amazing PowWow during National Native American Heritage Month for Marion County! The Annual Silver Springs PowWow helps celebrate National Native American Heritage Month by sharing native histories and intertribal cultural teachings with the public. This event features all the things that Silver Springs regularly offers, like glass bottom boats, canoe and kayak rentals, ranger programs, and other recreational activities. In addition special activities will be offered during the PowWow. There will be cultural speakers, educational displays, artists, demonstrators, food, entertainment, live auctions and more.<\/p>\n

The Silver Springs PowWow Committee is inviting Native American artisans, craftsmen, performers, photographers, food vendors, and others to participate in the First Annual Silver Springs PowWow. All Drums and Dancers Welcome! We hope that you join us at this annual event to help celebrate the rich history of Marion County\u2019s first inhabitants.<\/p>\n

Pow Wows are the Native American people\u2019s way of meeting together, to join in dancing, singing, visiting, renewing old friendships, and making new ones. The Silver Springs PowWow, like other powwows, is a time to renew Native American culture and preserve the rich heritage of American Indians.<\/p>\n
