Don’t miss the 39th Logan Hills Festival and Pre-1840 Rendezvous on May 25-27, 2019 at Hall-Fawcett Park in Zanesfield, Ohio. The long-running Memorial Day Weekend event is both a ‘drama’ and festival, a pre-1840s primitive rendezvous, and a pow wow!<\/p>\n

Public Welcome – Free Admission<\/strong>
\nVisitors can travel through history without charge. Learn about history, join in on the games or browse at the various trade blankets.<\/p>\n

Pre-1840 Logan Hills Rendezvous
\nIn conjunction with the Logan Hills Festival you can experience a pre-1840 Fur Trade Era Rendezvous encampment with all the trimmings. Come see where Simon Kenton and Blue Jacket spent many years of their lives exploring and making their homes. The encampment includes Mountain Men, Fur Traders and Native Americans in period dress. See what it was like to live back in the 1700s and early 1800s.<\/p>\n

Rendezvous occurred each year when the fur traders, the fur trade companies, and the Native Americans (Indians) would meet to sell their furs, get paid, gather supplies for the next year, as well as drink, socialize and catch up with their friends before they started back to work.<\/p>\n

Today, people all over the country reenact these rendezvous. Many are pre-1840 events that require all reenactors to dress and camp in the primitive style of the era depicted. For some, it\u2019s just “primitive” camping with period clothes of the type used during the Fur Trade Era of the 1840s. All shelters used are of the type used during these times as well.<\/p>\n

During a rendezvous, there is always an air of friendliness and fun. People are relaxing, eating, doing period crafts or playing period games. They are always more than willing to share the history of what they are doing with other campers or visitors. If you are a visitor and new to ‘rendezvous’, be sure to visit with the reenactors and ask questions during public hours.<\/p>\n

Camping<\/strong>
\nThere is an encampment organized by the Mountain Men Rendezvous. All participants of the encampment are dressed in 1840s Fur Trade Era clothing and all shelters are the types used during the Fur Trade Era. As you take a walk through the encampment you will see many of the participants involved in different activities and competitions including Lizard Pull, Archery, and the Hawk and Knife throwing competitions.

\nCamp Fee is $20 for pre-registered campers;
\nCamp Fee $25 for walk-in campers
\nMRM members receive $5 off registration

Logan Hills Festival Drama<\/strong>
\nFestival activities include a presentation of the Taloga Historical Outdoor Drama. The Taloga Historical Outdoor Drama is the only outdoor drama in the state of Ohio with a cast of area residents wearing period costumes. Step back in time and see history unfold as we tell you the story of the Native Americans and pioneers from this area.<\/p>\n
