Join us at the 48th Annual Ojai Valley Gun Club Sespe Rendezvous on October 15-20, 2019 at the Ojai Valley Gun Club in Ventura, California for its celebration of the Pre-1840 Fur Trade Era. Period attire is encouraged, but not required. Day visitors and speculators are welcome at no charge. Bring your own food. Shooting events begin on Tuesday at 8:00 A.M.<\/p>\n

During the Sespe Rendezvous, the organizaton devotes the entire complex to the Ojai Valley Gun Club Sespe Rendezvous. This is a re-creation of the time when wagons loaded with trade goods and essentials from St. Louis would meet the mountain men and trappers to trade their pelts for supplies.<\/p>\n

The spirit of this meeting is honored through shooting contests (featuring paper targets and a trail walk), knife and tomahawk throwing, and other events. A Traders Row features traders displaying and selling goods consistent with the period.<\/p>\n

Camping areas are established for motor homes (tin tepees), campers, and tents with a separate primitive section for those who enjoy portraying the lifestyles of the mountain-man and trapper. These festivities are not only entertaining, but are educational for the whole family.<\/p>\n

Period Dress Encouraged<\/strong>
\nEveryone is encouraged to wear period dress, but it is required only of participants in the primitive area.<\/p>\n

Camping:<\/strong>
\n-First come-first served.
\n-Fee $30.00 (Includes one shooters fee)
\nFor the benefit of the club, payment of shooter\u2019s fees & camping fees are required of all attendees. This includes club members.
\n-Three separate Camp Areas:
\nPrimitive, Tin Teepee\/Generator Equiped, Non-generator equipped shelters.
\n-Bring your own firewood. Cutting or gathering of any vegetation is prohibited by the National Forest Service.
\nNote: Fires might not be permitted.
\n-No vehicles in the primitive area except to unload.
\n-Quiet time maintained after Midnight.
\n-Modern firearms NOT allowed in camp.
\n-No Shooting On Sunday<\/p>\n

Competition Rules<\/strong>
\nFirearms:
\n– Muzzle loading rifles and pistols using patched, round balls. Exception: Military-style guns may use conical bullets if they were designed for them.
\n– Cap and ball revolvers are also acceptable.
\n– Not Allowed: Modern, sealed and in-line ignition systems.
\n– Ladies\u2019 Novice shooters must identify themselves as such at the time of registration.
\nComplete details will be posted at Registration.
\n– Shooters must register for all events in which they wish to compete.<\/p>\n
