Bledsoes Fort Colonial Fair

Historic re-enactors will recreate history and life at the site of the original Bledsoe’s Fort, the Rogan Cottage, and the Nathanial Parker Cabin. The Bledsoes Fort Colonial Fair will showcase many different facets of the Fort Site including a Longhunter’s camp, Military Camps, and a Native Encampment indicative of the 18th century period at Bledsoe’s Fort. Visitors may shop on Traders Row for colonial arts and crafts, clothing, pottery, guns, knives, toys, and much, much more!

Educational demonstrations, colonial games, and a children’s area will add to the experience the 18th century Colonial Fair. Children can relive the past in authentic colonial clothing that will be available to rent for the day. Take a walk through the woods around the trace, take a hay ride, or kick up your heels during the Big Dance that will have everyone stepping back in time. You don’t want to miss the magic shows, strolling minstrels, musicians, and street performers that will be only a part of the celebrations presented at the Bledsoes Fort Colonial Fair. [su_accordion][su_spoiler title=”Bledsoes Fort Colonial Fair Participant Information”]There are no registration fees for all registered participants, campers, merchants, or traders. Anyone attending in period attire that has not registered will be required to purchase tickets at the gate.

Traders Row will feature artisans and crafts demonstrators, clothing and glassware, pottery, and household items from the 18th Century. Educational demonstrations, game areas for colonial games, a children’s area, musicians and street performers will be only part of the offerings presented at the Colonial Fair. After so much enthusiasm was generated the first year we will again have shooting competitions. Past year’s shooting matches were fun, but very challenging, so bring a sharp eye and even sharper wit.

In order to provide the most authentic experience for participants and visitors, participants are asked to observe all guidelines and comply with jury requests. Upon receipt & approval of your application for participation, we will notify you with an acceptance card. Please return the completed application, with photographs if applicable, by April 15, 2017.

Registration will begin before the event on Wednesday morning at 9:00 am at the Gatehouse, at which time you will receive your information packet, passes & space assignment. All vehicles and non-period items must be out of the Market Fair and historic area by 9:00 am Friday morning.

Straw, firewood and water will be provided for participants. Ice will be available for purchase. All fire pits should be replaced with sod when you break camp on Sunday. It is extremely important to preserve the integrity of the event and give each of our visitors a unique experience, so we ask that all campsites, displays & merchants remain in place until closing at 3:00 pm Sunday.

Saturday evening, you are invited to attend “Bledsoe’s Tavern Under the Stars” and enjoy Music, Dancing, Sing-A-longs & 18th century Games & Fun.

Bledsoes Fort Colonial Fair is completely organized and supported by volunteer labor, so your cooperation, understanding and support will be greatly appreciated.
