2019 Rendezvous on the Reserve

Rate This Event

Join us for the Rendezvous on the Reserve on September 6-8, 2019 at the historic Godfroy Reserve in Montpelier, Indiana. Rendezvous on the Godfrey Reserve is a living history encampment that depicts the fur trade-era in the Indiana wilderness spanning the years of 1760-1840. This gathering of settlers, natives, traders and trappers will be held on the Blackford County Reservation of Myaamia Chief Francois Godfroy on the site chosen by him in accordance with the terms of the 1818 Treaty of St. Mary’s between the Miami and the U.S. Government. The Rendezvous takes place in this beautifully quiet site, complete with creeks, wooded areas, rolling hills and grassy plains.

Rendezvous on the Reserve

Visitors to the Rendezvous on the Reserve can witness our campers as they recreate life on LaPetite Prairie, demonstrating the life skills needed to survive in the early days before Indiana became a state. Watch our camper reenactors compete in Muzzle-loader Shooting, Tomahawk & Knife Throwing and Primitive Archery Contests. There’s Skillet Tossing competitions for the Ladies and games for the kids. This is a family friendly event with fun and excitement for everyone.

This living history project, Rendezvous on the Godfroy Reserve, helps fund the Montpelier Historical Society and our many projects devoted to preserving the history of our community.
