Neshaminy Civil War Reenactment
The 28th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, the First Legion, Provisional Army of the Confederate States, the Historical Society of Bensalem Township, the GAR Museum and Library, the Delaware Valley Civil War Round Table along with the Neshaminy State Park sponsor the Civil War living history weekend focused on an actual Civil War battle.
The event will be held on the grounds of Neshaminy State Park, Bensalem Pennsylvania. The park is conveniently located near both Interstate 95 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The state park lies at the confluence of the Neshaminy Creek and the Delaware River. Within its grounds was once located Dunks Ferry, a site of Revolutionary War activity. Nearby sites of interest to military historians include Civil War campsites, hospitals, memorials and military grave sites and Fort Mifflin.
Each year, an historical battle of action of Civil War history is selected by the Committee to recreate as faithfully and authentically as possible. The action of battle should involve local troops from Philadelphia and environs to portray. The time period and terrain should be presented as well as can be done. We also try and present smaller sections of a larger action on the Brigade level, where the numbers engaged are actually accurate to the recreation. The tactics, uniforms, weapons and ceremonies are all authentic to the Action selected. The result of this ambitious historical military program includes the recreation of Union and Confederate military camps along with civilian camps, two public battles and a re-enactor only tactical event.
While admission is free, a voluntary collection will be taken each day of the re-enactment and all proceeds will go toward historical preservation efforts.

Civil War Museum & Library; Bensalem Historical Association; and later the Delaware Valley Civil War Round Table; and 1st Battalion Army of Northern Virginia (ANV). The Neshaminy Civil War Reenactment has become one of the largest historical recreations of Civil War history on the East Coast.
