Historic Kindermasken Parade
The Historic Kindermasken Parade begins at 11:30 a.m. and disbands at Main Plaza. Be part of New Braunfels’ oldest heritage tradition, the historic Kindermasken Parade! Hermann Seele, one of the city’s first teachers, founded this costumed parade for school children as early as 1856. He wanted a May Day celebration for children to remember their German heritage. Some local families have participated in the parade for seven generations! Make historic New Braunfels Folkfest Kindermasken Parade a part of your family tradition. Join us the first Saturday in May in historic downtown New Braunfels.
Children may wear any type of costume. For generations, parents created an amazing variety of costumes for their children to wear in Kindermasken Parade. Small wagons are allowed, but please no bicycles or motorized vehicles. No pets. Line up in Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church parking lot at 11:00 a.m.
