Opening the Tattoo this year will be the Junior Colonials of Westbrook playing the National Anthem. The Tattoo’s opening ceremony follows with a ritual presentation and placement of historic flags by each corps around the perimeter of the field. Following the Junior Colonials, the Junior Fife and Drum Corps of Deep River and Grand Republic of Southbury will play.
Then the musical evening of fun and camaraderie accelerates with the start of a traditional fife and drum corps jam session. Everyone is invited to stay and participate in this event. The Westbrook Drum Corps Muster Tattoo takes place each year on Westbrook’s Ted Lane Field opposite the Town Green and abutting the public parking lot next to the Westbrook Firehouse on South Main Street.
On Saturday, starting at 11:00 am, the 50 fife and drum corps units will step off to march through town in a parade that will end at Ted Lane Field at the rear of the Riggio Building. The Westbrook Drum Corps Muster muster event will follow in which each corps will take the field in their turn to perform a series of musical selections.
Vendors will set up booths at the muster to sell items that would be of interest to members of the visiting drum corps units.
