2019 Aroostook Band of Micmacs Mawiomi of Tribes
Join us for the 25th Annual Aroostook Band of Micmacs Mawiomi of Tribes on August 16-18, 2019 at Spruce Haven in Caribou, Maine. Celebrate our Mi’kmaq culture through ceremonies, dancing, drumming, socializing with our people and just plain ole having family fun. This is a drug and alcohol free event that is OPEN TO EVERYONE. There is absolutely NO ENTRANCE FEE to attend, just show up, have fun and enjoy our culture.
Aroostook Band of Micmacs Mawiomi of Tribes
Each year, on the third weekend in August, the Aroostook Band of Micmacs celebrates the Mawiomi of Tribes which is dedicated to all people of Mother Earth. The word “Mawiomi” is derived from the Mikmaq language meaning “Gathering.”The event is intended to showcase beauty, strength, spirit and endurance of the Micmac peoples’ culture and tradition.
We hope that all can attend the Aroostook Band of Micmacs Mawiomi of Tribes to see the beautiful showcase of our culture through dancing, drumming, singing, artistry, foods and so much more. This is not just a Native American event, as we pride ourselves in sharing our culture to the local area, so come on over and prepare to make so many memories. Vendor fee waived, but if electricity is used, a $25 fee will be administered.
