2019 Woolaroc Spring Mountain Man Encampment

Experience living history the annual Woolaroc Spring Mountain Man Encampment on October 4-5, 2019 at Woolaroc Museum and Wildlife Preserve in Bartlesville, Oklahomoa. Nestled near the shore of Crystal Lake, this camp is one of the most beautiful of its kind and is the perfect setting for a weekend of historical retreat. There will be approximately 125 tents and tipis set up for this annual Western heritage event formerly known as the Spring Traders Encampment. Spend the weekend at Woolaroc in Bartlesville and join participants from all over the United States as they recreate the rugged pioneer life of the men and women who trapped and traded throughout 1820s and 1840s-era Indian Territory.

Woolaroc Spring Mountain Man Encampment

Step back in time at the Woolaroc Spring Mountain Man Encampment and observe their lifestyle, learn about their backgrounds and interests, watch their craft demonstrations and check out their wares. The public is invited to browse through the encampment while enjoying food and living history demonstrations.

Hosted by Woolaroc’s Mountain Men, the camp has become a favorite for traders and re-enactors from across the country. The camp will be historically accurate, recreating what a settlement of this type would have looked like in the 1840s. The Trader’s Encampment is open to the public and guests are encouraged to park and walk through the camp. There is no additional admission required; regular admission at the gate includes the Spring Trader’s Camp.

Adults – $12
Over 65 – $10
Children 11 and younger are FREE

Public Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Many of the campers will set up their tents or tipis and have period crafts for the public to view and purchase. The camp also serves as a wonderful educational tool for children to visit and experience the lifestyle of earlier times. Immerse yourself in the lives of pioneer trappers and traders as skilled and costumed re-enactors present live history demonstrations, old-fashioned craft tutorials and a variety of Western goods and wares for sale. Celebrate the Western heritage of the state as you browse the grounds filled with hundreds of tents and teepees while munching on tasty snacks and authentic chuckwagon food.

Also, While on your way to the Woolaroc Spring Mountain Man Encampment, leave a week early and visit the nearby Fur Trade Era Rendezvous Fort Washita Historic Site in Durant, for storytellers in character, re-enactors in Western clothing and lifestyle demonstrations dating back to the mid-1800s.
