2019 Andersontown Powwow and Indian Market
Join us for the 16th Annual Andersontown Powwow and Indian Market on September 7-8, 2019 at Athletic Park in Anderson, Indiana. The Andersontown Powwow is two days of family fun, history adventures, powwow dancing and Indian Market shopping! Immerse yourself in the traditions of and culture of Native Tribes with atlatl and tomahawk throws, pioneer games, maple sugaring and more! Feast on buffalo burgers, fry bread, Indian tacos and lavender lemonade!
Andersontown Powwow and Indian Market
Exhibition dancing is showcased in the arena at the Andersontown Powwow, an intertribal celebration that welcomes all dancers. Visitors can enjoy the beat of the Native American drums and learn native dances like the round, bean, two-step, stomp dances and more. Plus, learn about customs, clothing and traditions of many different tribes. Event goers are invited to dance in the arena. Intertribal dancing will follow immediately the grand entries.

Birds of Prey: Meet some of Indiana’s native raptors up close! Learn about the owl, hawk, falcon, and vulture
behavior, habitat and more! Saturday 11am – 1pm & 2pm; Sunday Noon & 2pm
Native Art Activities & Games: Children can participate in a variety of Native American inspired activities to learn about Native tribes and traditions. Saturday 11am–8pm and Sunday 11am–4pm
Storytelling: Hear Native stories about customs, traditions, and family life. Saturday 3pm, 4pm, & 6pm; Sunday 11am & 2pm
Eastern Woodland Indian Culture and Stories: With Jamie Oxendine. Explore and learn about the Eastern Woodland Indian Culture in stories and demonstrations of classic Woodland clothing of the 18th century. Saturday 3pm & 6pm and Sunday 2pm
Native American Flute Concert: With Douglas Blue Feather. Enjoy the Native American flute with award-winning artist Douglas Blue Feather in three performances. Concerts: Saturday Noon & 6pm with guest artists Danny Voris and Jay Luis Sunday Noon. Flute Demonstrations: Saturday 3pm

Lodging & Camping: A limited number of primitive camp sites are available onsite at the Andersontown Powwow grounds at Athletic Park. We can accommodate anything from tents to RV’s.
