2019 Big Horn Mountain Men Rendezvous
Don’t miss the 36th Annual Big Horn Mountain Men Rendezvous from October 10-19, 2019 at the Holcomb Valley Scout Ranch near Big Bear, California. Enjoy traditional Muzzle Loading Rifles, Pistols, Trade Guns, Primitive Bows/Arrows, Hawk & Knife. Horses Welcome. Events included in camp fee. Prizes will be awarded according to number of daily participants. $5 re-entry fee per event. ALL CAMP POTLUCK PLANNED FOR SATURDAY, October 11 & FRIDAY, October 18.

RANGE AND SHOOTING RULES (Please read COMPLETE rules available at registration):
Peewees (11 and younger) may use cross sticks. Juniors – 12 through 15. Adults – 16 and older
Round ball only – no conicals. Open sights only. Arrows – Wood, feathers (metal field tips, plastic nocks OK)
CAMP RULES (ALL):
These rules apply to all Big Horn Mountain Men Rendezvous participants, regardless of type camp.
QUIET TIME – MIDNIGHT TILL 6:00 AM
1. All participants must be out of camp by 4:00 pm, Sunday, Sept 11.
2. PROPANE ONLY in Tin Tipi area.
3. Potable well water is available throughout camp.
4. Haul out your trash. Leave a clean camp when you pack up. Place ashes from charcoal in ash barrels provided -if we’re
allowed charcoal fires. NO TRASH IN ASH BARRELS!!
5. Dogs are allowed. Please respect your neighbors – don’t bring unfriendly or barking dogs, clean up after. Must be tied or
on leash at all times.

CAMP RULES (PRIMITIVE CAMP):
1. Please unload vehicle in one (1) hour or less. Remove vehicle to parking area after unloading BEFORE setting up!
2. It is quite likely the County will have restricted open fires by late summer (dependent on perceived fire danger). Plan on
no open fires. Propane stoves are allowed, (please keep out of sight when not in use in Primitive Camp) NO LIQUID
FUEL STOVES OR LANTERNS. Clear a safe area to bare earth around your stove area – avoid placing under
trees, near bushes/grass or near other fire hazards. Someone must be in attendance at all times when in use! Keep
shovel and filled water bucket close at hand at all times. Fire extinguisher required at each camp.
3. The intent is to maintain the appearance of a pre-1840 rendezvous. Camps must reflect the era as much as possible at all
times. All non-primitive gear must be kept out of sight! (Propane stoves excepted-during use-please cover when not in use.)
4. Horses welcome! You must keep horses under control at all times. Please contact Booshway or Segundo prior to arrival
for details on feed and camping arrangements. Riding trails are close by camp.
5. Sunday, Sept 10 – No vehicles in Primitive Camp to pack up before 7 AM.

North on Route 330 to Running Springs
East on Route 18 to Big Bear Lake Dam
Left Fork at Dam, Route 38
Stay on 38 past Fawnskin (DO NOT turn left at the first Holcomb Valley sign in Fawnskin)
North on Forest Service Road 2N09 (Polique Canyon Rd.)
Or North on 3N09 (Van Dusen Canyon Road)
**Note: It is recommended that family cars use Van Dusen Canyon Road. The road is better maintained because of the family campground.
CAMP FEE:
$40.00 per person (11 years and under free). $70.00 maximum per family (considered to be parent(s) with children under 18
years). This is the total charge for camping and most BHMM events. The charge is the same for one night or entire
rendezvous. Special events may require additional fees.
DAY VISITORS:
See Gate Hours above. (No Visitors on Thurs. Oct 10 or Tues. Oct 15 thru Thurs. Oct 17) $5.00 per day per person – no events
(11 years & under free). Day visitors are welcome with/or without period dress – you must be out of camp after Camp
Meetings (6:30 pm). $30.00 per person if participating in events (see dress requirements below). Scouts and Military(in
uniform) free!

DRESS CODE:
Primitive dress is mandatory for the Rifle and Pistol Walk-thrus, Hawk & Knife and Primitive Archery. Also mandatory after
(apprx 6:30) Camp Meetings in Primitive Camp. If not properly dressed, you will be requested to leave.
TRADERS:
Traders at the Big Horn Mountain Men Rendezvous will be allowed a reasonable time to un-load. Early set-up for traders ONLY on Wed. Aug 30.
Only items related to the period are to be sold. This is not a swap meet. There will be no selling of illegal animal parts.
Keep any plastic out of sight. Traders required to pay camp fees only. *No add’l Traders’ fee. A PRIZE donation would be
greatly appreciated.
