2020 BAAITS Powwow

Rate This Event

Make plans for the 9th Annual BAAITS Powwow on February 8, 2020 at the Festival Pavilion at Fort Mason Center in Yelamu (San Francisco), the traditional homelands of the Ohlone peoples. Powwows are traditional, Inter-tribal events that promote community togetherness, healing, and wellness. The Two-Spirit powwow is held each year to help decolonize our communities and realign with Native traditions of togetherness, seeing strength in our differences, and accepting all genders and sexualities. Who should attend: Everyone is welcome. This is a family-friendly, clean and sober event.

BAAITS Powwow

Our Two-Spirit Powwow embraces Native traditions while also providing a uniquely San Francisco experience. The annual event draws our community together, celebrating our cultures through traditional DANCE, ARTS, FOOD, and an opportunity for indigenous people from every tribal nation to gather and dance at our powwow. Last year we welcomed more than 5000 Native and non-Native people to join in the event.

Dancing and singing are not the only highlights of the powwow; Native American food vendors will be in attendance. Foods that are offered range from Indian Tacos, Tamales and Buffalo Burgers. Native artisans will be selling a variety of Native wares that many times are only sold at powwows. Vendors will be on site selling frybread, buffalo burgers, Native art and jewelry, and other wares to the expected crowd of over 3,500. The Native American Health Center will also be in attendance providing free health screenings. The BAAITS Powwow features contest dances; all powwow dancers and drums are welcome.
